Hey guys, I just recently bought a Malibal Lotus and i have a simple question.

Both me and my roomate are wondering what is up with the "power conservation" button that you can change.

Why is there this button, and the standard windows power option changer?

It feels like when we want to switch from balance (for school work) to games (high performance) that we have to change 2 settings, not just 1.

Is there a way to change this? Is it really needed? Does it effect the laptop in a big way?

    Any help would be great.

    Thanks

the power conservation button is the main switch. just set it to balance for normal usage, and high performance for gaming.

The power conservation modes are tied directly to the Bios/EC. If you set that to energy star and Windows to High performance- you'll still be running at Energy star. It sets the "upper threshold" for power and clocks.

    thanks for responding guys.

So to make sure i understand, i dont have to change the windows one at all? Its all done through the power conservation button?

Is there any way to have these combined into 1 button?

You would still want to do the Windows settings. Basically, the power conservation settings control power through hardware. Windows controls through software at the OS. If you leave power conservation on balanced all the time and do the rest through Windows, it should probably work just fine for you :)
