Anyone tried to connect a pendrive to the eSATA port on a Clevo without the bulky power cable?

as far as i know, clevos esata ports are regular ones, no power over it. Needs power tru usb or socket. A power over esata port is like a dual usb and esata together.

Thanks, I thought so. Maybe just as well - it's a bit early for eSATA pen drives. Hotswapping issues, recognition problems etc. Not to mention the less than 100% probability that your friend's/work pc has eSATA...

using 2 wires, one esata, the otehr usb2.0 for power. For a hard drive enclosure is actually no big deal for me. But sure would have been nice for clevo to make the ports power over esata, many laptops these days are power over esata. And fyi, esata is still faster than usb 3.0.
Power over eSATA??
