    How do I turn it on to get maximum battery life? I have a 5793.

    right click on desktop ->Properties ->screen saver -> power... -> you know what to do

    Do the power schemes change anything besides shut-off times? Does it underclock and such?

    I have a similar question but want to go the OPPOSITE way. Is there a way to stop XP from downclocking the CPU & GPU when the laptop is unplugged?
