This laptop has three audio jacks, one for headphone/spdif, one for line in (mic), and last one for speakers line out.

Speakers jack/line out works, but it has a lot of hiss with my headphones, and it's very annoying on my Shure earbuds.

Headphone jack doesn't work at all (farthest to the left port).

I have downloaded the official audio driver w/ Sound Blaster "tools" installed them, rebooted, and no change. If anything the internal speakers and line out sound worse because of the EQ from Sound Blaster.

What's even stranger is Sound Blaster recognizes my headphones in the headphone/spdif jack, but Realtek and Windows audio do not. They seem to think I'm still using the internal speakers but it's muted completely upon me plugging in my earphones/headphones.

Not sure what to do, as I'm worried this will become a more severe motherboard issue, but at the same time this laptop is stupidly fast. It really craps on my previous gaming PC.

    Thanks for any replies!

Not sure what´s going on, but either way, all that section uses a dedicated board, so it´s not a matter of replacing the motherboard but just a small pcb with all jacks and bits like the headphone amp.
We had problems in the past where the cable that connects that small PCB to the mainboard was not good or just not properly connected.
You can try to remove the bottom cover and check if it´s well connected.

What happens if you change sterio to 5.1 does the jack audio clean up?

Is ControlCenter installer? In my P650SE without ControlCenter windows would not detect the headphones being connected.

I only see Sound Blaster and Realtek. Will any version of Clevo Control Center work? I see this version online: http://www.clevo.com/en/e-services/download/ftpout_download.asp?sno=7815&no=1

    I don't see a version specifically for p650hs.

EDIT: It seems Eluktronics has the control center zip for P650HS: http://www.eluktronics.com/support/p6x0hs-g-drivers/

Nope. Same static hiss sound. It's very annoying.

Here's an album of pics I took of the inside: https://imgur.com/a/VCBgQ

But I think the solder joint is broken/cracked on the part that says "O":

Here's another look (also is that flux or scratches on the pcb?): [IMG]

Scratches on the metal part too: [IMG]

Maybe I should exchange this unit out at Microcenter. I'm on day two of ownership.

That solder does not matter, it's unpopulated pad.

I would look for a swap, it may be the audio amp is bad.

Okay, so I should swap the laptop (ie: exchange it?) or ask PowerSpec to swap the audio board?
