I know it's 3 years late, but I've updated my 1710 to the generic Clevo bios in that palkeo repo. The serial is now gone, the model is now just "Notebook" and "PA70Hx". Here are some screenshots from AIDA64.

the boot logo is now this ugly one

Other than that, the laptop works fine, it's 4 years old at this point and warranty ended a long time ago. So I dunno if it's worth updating the BIOS or not. I think updating the EC to 1.05.06 to make the fans more quiet/less aggressive is enough.

Usually you want it on the latest firmware if possible but if it's functioning fine then it can be left.

Well well well...look what I've got for my 1710 after upgrading to the latest (2018 lol) Clevo BIOS:
A custom boot logo, that actually looks like the PowerSpec branding
and an unlocked BIOS!!
Yes, my friend, you're looking at the "Overclocking Performance Menu" with all of its hidden options revealed. This is the first PowerSpec 1710 in the world to have an unlocked BIOS and a proper boot logo
Edit: I may have spoken too soon lol. The voltage offset doesn't seem to work, I set the offset prefix to - but it's always a + after booting to Windows, so I can't undervoltLast edited: Sep 30, 20214W4K3 likes this. -

What if you leave it at negative 0 and reboot?
