    New Clevo notebooks of 2009: Pre-CeBIT 2009

Remember guys, you heard it here first. :D

(Although a few others have gotten the leak as well... I will probably be the first to type it all out)

    NotebookReview FTW. :)

Now on to the confirmed models that will more than likely be debuted next year... most likely at the Clevo booth at CeBIT2009.

UPDATE: speaking of CeBIT, Clevo has just announced (literally within the last few hours) their appearance there and some details of what they will be debuting:
    http://www.clevo.com.tw/en/news/newsDetail.asp?newsID=91

Note: Launch Date does NOT mean thats the date that it will be shipped to customers... only means its been debuted.
    - if the launch date is Q1 2009, the ship/purchase date wont be until late Q2 to Q3 2009.

    :D (For Engadget.com guests) :D
Note 2: let me explain the model numbers... which are not "cryptic" at all. The small "x" will denote a numeric number which would entail an aesthetic difference (usually color).
    - all of this is explained in the Clevo Guide.... with this one simple pic. :)

Enjoy, sorry, no more solid details on the D90xF yet.

But now there is confirmation that the D901C does have a successor model... and its not the M98xNU that other sites claimed it to be... but we know better here at NBR don't we. ;)

I'll update whenever I can get real confirmation.

Maybe I can get pics for everything... just need some time.

You know... if you started with the 15-17" models, you would probably have a lower chance of being lynched. :p

Hmm Q1 is a lot earlier than I expected for a D90X replacement, particularly since I just bought one. GRR

The Clevo M570ETU is the latest of the 17" single videocard notebooks.

    this is definitely a D901C replacement/refresh

    I would not fret.

Same MXM-IV slots, same videocards, both still quad-core CPUs.

And this notebook wont ship out until late Summer or Fall 2009

Remember, "Launch Date" does not mean Purchase Date

If the D90x replacement is going to ship until summer/fall 2009, it would have to support the desktop i7, because that's when the Calpella platform would be out.

So with these informations means the D901c will be able to upgrade graphic cards other than the nVidia 8800-9800 series with no mobo revision?

    Not at all.

This information shows a new D900 model that will be the successor of the current D901C.

That main thing is the MXM Type IV videocards are the same for the new notebook.

And the new model is using a new Intel desktop platform... hopefully the Core i7.

And I am confident the new model will also have the extra stuff that the D901C does not have like HDMI and such.
    ___________________

As for others thinking that they might be able to upgrade to this upcoming model's motherboard in the current D901C.

I am confident that the new model will retain nearly the same chassis, but probably modified to have the extra ports (like HDMI).

Like it was from the M570RU to the M570TU, chassis is mostly identical but the TU had extra HDMI and eSATA on the chassis.

Really nice new models, I won't be upgrading to the D90XF, I am currently going to build the world's fastest / best desktop computer; yet another achievement to Clevo:

    Why would there be?

The M860TU and M570TU/ETU are using the latest Intel mobile platform (Montevina)... with the latest high-end capabilities.

I feel that there hasn't been a lot of improvements in recent technologies. Yeah, there's Montevina but like...there's no big difference. And DDR3 is still at the beginning (even .Apple has it). GPUs have been staying the same for more than an year (while there's some GTX 280 for desktops). Ony good thing is the Core i7. Lets hope Hybrid SLI makes it way through :)

As I had suspected all along! :D However, let's curb our enthusiasm about getting everyone's hopes up that current D901C's will be "upgradeable" - they won't be, unless you consider spending almost as much as it would cost to just buy the new system outright in order to replace every major component, other than, say, the casing, lcd, hard drives, and CD/DVD drive - and even that's not guaranteed.

If, perchance, I'm wrong and there is a supported upgrade path, then that'd be great (particularly since I don't think I'll be able to put off getting a new system until next Summer or Fall, which is when the D90xF's are most likely to be hitting the stores), but the only reasonable mindset right now is to assume that such an upgrade path will not be provided.

Hmm...I think my day just got brighter....or maybe its the snow outside.
One question what does "Launch date" mean? It sounds very suspicious to me..
As well, how good is Clevo with dates and staying true to them?
I know some people *hint*Valve*/hint* have trouble with keeping promises...

i mean, there was supposed to already be the update of the D901c with the HDMI and a few other ports. IMO, i really think its gonna be the same chassis, with a new mobo and a few new holes to support the placement of these parts. If you look at it economically, it would be smart for clevo to do that. Similar mold, same other parts. I imagine there being an upgrade possible. new mobo will cost 500 bucks... and to put it in and maybe shave out a new hole for the new ports will cost a 100 or so. FIgure its a 600 dollar upgrade. Gonna be the same price for i7 processors as for desktop (same part) and the video cards will be GTX200s by then, figure 800 each. So, my system (+600 MB upgrade +800vga+500cpu) 1900$ upgrade... >_< not rele worth it since i paid 3k 1.5 years ago to get what i have now... current mobo upgrade price is like 250 for the new mobo... so the new mobo might be only around 350, but still 1750 for the upgrade :-/

I still only play CoD4, and TF2, CS:S. The next game i want is Starcraft2, which the 7950 should be able to handle as well.... SO, its probably better to wait 2 more years and get a new system...

The M98xNU is larger then the D90xC but looks like it's just as thick, you'd think that they would figure out a way to make it a little bit skinnier. I don't see the benefit of having the M98xNU over the D90xC unless you must have that extra inch of screen.

Hopefully the M98xNU will allow for overclocking of the Qx9300. A very HQ LCD would also make this an interesting notebook. However, I imagine the price with the Nvidia Chipset and dedicated graphics cards will make it way too expensive.

if the upcoming D90xF is Core i7, that would be amazing.

But I am not confident that it will be...

I feel that, at the least, that it might be an updated LGA775 Intel chipset like P45 or X48.

When we can at least confirm on the Socket type (LGA775 or LGA1366), we will probably have a good idea on the platform.

    Here's hoping for the LGA1366. :)

... which would be my possible replacement for my D900K.

    I'm wondering when we'll see a M860TU update. Perhaps late Q2 2009?

Disappointed to see them going the 16:9 route. 16:10 is already almost too short vertically!

Like I said before, the D901c replacement will have to be Core i7 based, or huge bust IMO.

    maybe, maybe not.

It would not be a bust if the new system can at least support QX9770 (Yorkfield) with built-in BIOS OC options. :)

it would be nicer if they would have gotten it straighter... like the grammatical error.

about the D90xF: it should have said "successor" ... NOT "predecessor" to the D901C

and be a bit more detailed like from Chaz's News Bit on this:

Wow, and to think I was this close to jumping in on the OCZ bandwagon. Thanks for the good news. Really hoping the D90 refresh is Core i7 capable though. The 18.4 incher isn't ugly looking either. Decisions decisions.

I believe the ultraportable systems and the mainstream systems for now.

No confirmations (...yet) if they will be used on the other systems.
