This will be my first Clevo notebook and I am really looking forward to receiving it. Hopefully, the 9800m GTX will be ready to ship this Tuesday. If not, that's okay. I'm glad I chose Clevo, it sounds like they make some really reliable notebooks.

We don't know anything about the 9800m GTX with Clevo/Sagers just yet. You can rest assured that that system right there will keep you happy for years to come!

 

Hehe... yeah, it's going to be awesome. I've been using my Lenovo Thinkpad X31 for the past 6 years. Now it's starting to show it's age. I thought it was about time for an upgrade.

 

LOL speaking of thinkpad, want to hear something funny? a friend of mine in school got a system corrupted on his X41, he asked me about it but I was too busy going out with girls, and told him it can't be fixed. so he ended up throwing it to trash. Damn! I should have ask him to give it to me lol.

 

LOL...that sucks. They are handy little computers.

I jumped on the bandwagon too! I just couldn't stand that I had just spent 2300 on a system and it was already outdated and outperformed by a slightly cheaper system. So I took advantage of Sager's 30day return, sent it back, and ordered the NP5796! I mostly want quad and 9800. Will be patiently awaiting those when ready.

my order is in phase 2! but they don't have anything to build cause I ordered th silver chassis. weird. i guess i'll get in touch with Justin.

When did you order yours and how long were you in phase 1?
Just want to make sure nothing is wrong with my credit card.

 

i ordered on the 11th and went into phase two this afternoon.

Hmm, my phase 1 turned into another phase 1 that says once the laptop is officially released tomorrow it will take 3-7 business days for all the testing stuff.

 

Whats the difference between the 5793 vs 5796. The CPUs?

Other than the 5793 no longer being available, both the CPU and RAM (DDR3 replacing DDR2) have been changed.

 

The 5796 is a refresh of the 5793. It is loaded with the new Montevina (a.k.a. Centrino 2) platform. It is also featured with the latest processor technology and DDR3/1066MHz memory. Also, there is added ESATA and HDMI port.

 

Should i order the External USB ATSC HDTV / Analog TV Tuner with Remote for my 5796 or just buy one from another site?

only one thing left for me to do is pic vista 64 or 32bit.....

 

I don't know of any advantage to 32 bit Vista.

 

I choose standard OS because I'll be getting rid of vista anyway

 

I have two retail vista ultimate left one 32 bit and one 64 bit, one well be for my new laptop and one for my new PC build, am leaning to the 32 bit for my lap becuse i dont want any driver problems and am not much fermiler with the 64 bit.

 

Or indeed XP. Vista gives you a nice user interface (broadly at the expense of speed), DX10, and HD ability if you meet all TC conditions. The security benefit is debatable. Then take a view on the other side of the equation - whether you like/hate/are indifferent to things like: remote driver revocation, 'no recording' DRM flags, image degradation HDCP, and backwards compatibility. These issues have been debated to death on this and a million other forums. As to 64 bit Vista (or XP), I suggest first doing a list of the 5 key devices and applications you need to work, and google their compatibility with a 64 bit O/S.

 

Justin said that people who preordered went into phase 2 as soon as payment was confirmed but the laptops will not start construction until Tomorrow.

 

I guess the pre-ordered laptops will ship at the beginning of next week?

 

The 5796 should at least. The M860TU (NP8860) early august.

 

My payment is confirmed so hopefully I can do any upgrades that are available tomorrow after the release which is at midnight.

 

By upgrades you mean what?

 

I might change my cpu, don't know yet if I am. I will see in the morning.
