So I haven't seen this mentioned, though I could have missed it.

I pre-ordered a Black-Hawk XR5 from PC Microworks and I am wondering if anyone has heard about the new motherboard upgrade pushing back pre-sale ETA..... Or is it possible that they will have the new motherboards for the 8800m's ready by late December, at least for new units?

I really have to figure this out, because I am heading back to the states to pick it up, and I will be screwed if it doesnt ship by jan 10th at the very latest.

I haven't heard anything about that as of yet. To this point it seems that late December is a good date still. I think there will be more information next week on this. But I feel your pain on this one. I bought mine when I was back hoping to just put the new cards and not have to worry about it. But it looks like I will either have to wait a while or just risk all of the shipping.

Nevermind. Just spoke with PC Microworks over the phone, and I was told they already have the new motherboard. I just hope he knows what he is talking about... I am happy to know my ETA is still dec. 20-30th.
Yay! Sorry to all you folks who have to upgrade the MB. Though atleast you can upgrade, and not have to buy a new computer, like most people out there.

From your post I gather you are saying you have ordered a np9261 from Xotic, with 8800m's? Even though they are not offering them yet? Can you please make this clear.

yes thats what my signature saying. but from what i gathered on the email from xotic, they have received the cards are in the testing phase now. so somewhere down the line i will get these cards eventually since i told justin to upgrade me to these cards.

what happened is i ordered my system a week before the 8800GTX were announced. when the card was officially annouced, my lappy was in the 2nd phase of construction and testing. i told justin to hold off on the order so that i can upgrade to the new GFX which also means now upgrading the Mobo.

im prolly one of the lucky ones who got in just at the right time. i feel sorry for you guys who got their lappys just before the announcement of the new GFX and the more brutal news that u have to upgrade your mobos too.. which kinda sucks.

on the other hand there is still a lengthy waiting period before i get to play with the lappy as i am not in the US i will prolly get my system end of december i reckon. :)

I've got to hand it to PCMicro with the 8800GTX's. They are offering them as an upgrade when they recieve them at the same price as the 7950GTX's are now. With a free upgrade when they actually get them in.

Order your notebook get it with 7950's run it play games, when they get the 8800's in send it in have it switched out and get a new motherboard for free and get your 8800's installed.

I'll take my hat off to PCMicro for that. It beats the pants off what the other resellers are offering atm, IMO.

I'm glad I bought my system from them.
