I have not had any startup BSODs since disabling CCC within startup services. I now manually start up CCC after everything loads. Read below for more information.

With direct AMD video drivers, most of us have been getting BSODs with the 7970M, and usually just after startup. I have seen one or two BSODs when trying to open a game, but other than that, all of mine have occurred at one exact point: as the Catalyst Control Center service is starting, but not yet fully loaded and shown in the tray. Recently, I started using an external monitor and for some reason this simple action has resulted in the "every other restart" BSOD bug with 12.11 beta11.

What I first did to try and troubleshoot this issue was by going to my startup programs (accessible in msconfig->startup) and disabling Catalyst Control Center (CCC). After doing so, I restarted and was surprised to see that there was no freeze up. After a couple minutes I manually started up CCC and it opened fine with no freezes.

I hope this practice continues to work and I hope it works for you guys too. Please post any other ideas if you have any!
