Can anyone tell me how much the Sager 5760 has gone down in price in the last x months (basic price)? I'm curious if it's worthwhile waiting until early February -- when I need the laptop -- or if it makes sense to buy it now.

Up until this weekend, I was waiting for Vista to come out, but after seeing the price of the new O.S. on Amazon; and hearing from manufacturers that they don't have a ship date, I'm starting to change my mind.

I've read so much recently that everything is starting to blend in together.

it might go down $50 by feb, the prices won't start falling till the new chipset (santa rosa) comes out, which is in april

I'm only guessing though, maybe someone has kept a graph of the prices since the m570 came out? Gophn, i'm looking at you!

If you don't have anything good to do with your money now, you might as well spend it and enjoy the laptop now. Saving $50-$100 and waiting two months isn't that good of a trade off IMO, unless you're on a tight budget.

And also, most computer systems now come with a vista coupon, so I don't know why you'd buy it straight up from an e-tailer. Anyone know how long MS is doing this coupon thing? (too lazy to look it up, sorry).

You should probably configure from one of the following
    rjtech
    hypersonic
    flawless
as they have the cheapest prices for the sager 5760
of course feel free to check the FAQ for additional resellers if you wish

Thanks again. I believe the coupon thingy is good until March.

The Clevo M570U (the barebones) might go down a bit (more than $100-200 by Q1 2007)...

The components however, should go down as well, giving you a better price drop:
    - CPU.... Core 2 Duo (new Santa Rosa) should bring the price down marginally
    - Harddrives' prices should go down a bit as well since notebook drives are about to reach past 200gb with even 7200 rpm.
    - Videocard... the 7950GTX is the best at the moment and wont go obsolete in long while.... however, there has been speculation for a hybrid 7900/7950GTX mobile videocard with DX10 support that could be released as early as late Q1 2007 or early Q2 2007... if this videocard is released than you can count on the prices of the current 7800/7900/7950 GTX to go marginally down.
