Greetings,
I've undergone battle for the past month, searching, reading, analyzing and seeing in what's more convenient for me.
Taken my global location into consideration, I see that it is necessary for me to go for a laptop that can keep its coolness (temperature-wise), even on hot weather (my ambient temps being normally of 30~38C)...
I saw Alienwares, Asus', Sagers, MSIs, etc..
And I'm still a BIT torn between the w860cu and the GX740...
But since the GX740 isnt out, and it just has a single-fan-cooling solution,
I'm leaning HEAVILY towards a w860cu...
My question is;
Wheres the best place to buy it?
I've been seeing lots of places, sites, etc... and I liked what I saw @ Malibal (rebranded as Lotus), it has a $120 discount...
But I'm open to opinions by you guys who already own a Clevo.
I, on advance, appreciate your inputs![]()

Thank you Mr. DJ...
I made the same config in both:
320GB, 4GB RAM, i7-720, 1080 screen, 5870, WHP7
XoticPC: $1613 shipped(+$100 here in my country for indroductory fee)
Powernotebooks : $1604 shipped (+$100 here in my country for indroductory fee)
Malibal: ($1607 shipped - $120 discount = $1486)
gentechpc = $1680 shipped
wat do? -
Why the i7-720QM?

diez char
i mean the price difference is only $100 if i choose an i5...
thanks to the discount @ malibal, i dont see why not... -
I'd still say it isn't worth it if gaming is the priority, but even so the i7-620M is a better CPU overall than the i7-720QM, especially with gaming in mind.
It's strange that Malibal is charging more for the i7-620M than the i7-720QM, though. -
The 620's are in short supply that's why. For several weeks in April the Sager resellers didn't have the option up to buy the 620's. They now have them up but they are price just under the 720.

Ok...
I still have a week left probably until I get the rest of the money, right now, since every penny counts, I'm going to buy it from malibal...
If the GX740 comes out this week... its gonna be a tough choice, I have to wait for reviews...

Thank you.
Runs hot, i see...
Cant imagine running that on my 35C ambient temp... gonna pop up to 100C while gaming
Still, its a beauty... and I'm still in between...

I've been looking into the Sager 8690 myself. Though, I will prob go for the i5 520. I'm too poor to afford any higher. $1350 after shipping for the 8690 with the 1080p screen seems good to me.

Yeah, I've read/heard that i7 is kinda overkill for gaming... you'd only need it in CPU-intensive applications...
But, I want something futureproof...
Today was payday for me, so my budget just went up $200 more... I think I'm covered.
I'm still debating in between the GX740 and the W860CU...
-
You don't really get that much futureproofing from a roughly 20% difference in CPU power.
Some games in future might be rather demanding in CPU power, but your GPU is going to be letting you down a lot more than the CPU anyway. -

I clearly understand what the lackofcheese is trying to tell me...
But if theres a slight chance that Mobility 5950 or 5970 will fit in my clevo; it would be "on par" with my i7?

In the end just get what you want. Only you can decide if the extra money is worth it to go for you. When you ask for advice around here you will get a full gambit of answers that can end up making your decision that much harder. That is where your own research can payoff. As far as where to buy, Xoticpc and Powernotebooks are your best bet for a custom configured machine that is prebuilt for you. I went with Powernotebooks and am neutral about them. They were good but not great, yet did nothing wrong. They did step up to the bat for me on one issue but not another. I choose them over Xotic because they could answer a few questions that Xotic could not. Since this laptop needs to last at least three years it will be a long while before I order another, I may try Xoticpc next time so I can get an idea of how they are as a company. If you want to build yourself Rjtech is the place for a bare bones machine. I may consider them as well as it does save a bit of money at the risk of more possibly going wrong.

What do you think about Malibal?
-
Malibal, I looked at them as well, They seem to get good marks from the people here that have purchased from them. If I recall the price was comparable to the other resellers, But I wanted a zero dead pixel warranty and they don't offer it. They don't get the same level of press here at NBR but I could not tell you why.
