I recently did a fresh install of XP and Vista, but in XP the sound has been studdering terribly. When playing YouTube or games or even starting up it will studder every 3-5 seconds. I made sure I had the latest Realtek drivers, so I'm not sure what could be causing it. Someone on another forum suggest I check my latency, but it doesn't seem to tell me anything I don't already know (sound is fine except for a jump every few seconds). I also heard this may be a processor problem, but it has never happened like this on XP, so I wanted to know if I messed something up during the install or I have some kind of conflict.
Pic of my latency test:

-
which XP are you using? SP2 or SP3?
-
SP3 with all of the available updates applied.
-
so the sound is fine in Vista?
if so, then its definitely some software issue within XP.
Try to mess around with the Realtek Sound/Effect Manager software (the equalizer and such) -
Yeah, it definitely isn't happening in Vista. I haven't noticed any kind of hiccups, and here is my latency test:
-
I am curios what is running in the background.
can you run HiJackThis and post the results of the scan?
also check your task manager (or other processes manager) to see what might be causing the hiccups. -

I would also try to disable the network devices (LAN and Wifi). -
I was able to disable all of them (including the LAN and Wifi) except for the "xpnetdiag.exe" and it still gives me the same results.
-
get RMclock and use to manage the CPU.
-
-
Anyone? What settings do I need to change?
-
set the profiles up.
I use "performance on demand" for both battery and AC power. -
What do I use for "P-state transitions" and "throttling?"

One quick question: It says to select "mobile" for processor, but I'm running the desktop Q6600 processor. Do I still select this?
-
no, you do not have to select mobile CPU since our D900 systems are using desktop CPUs.
-
Still has latency. -_-
-
I have the same issue with Windows XP stuttering. It is mostly noticeable in games where music is continuously running and the CPU strain is higher. However, sometimes it happens on the OS when iTunes is playing music. I should have sufficient specs to run stutterless audio.
-
So I just tried DPCLatency, and I have the same problem. Huge red spikes. What does it mean? I haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary with normal use...
Problem with my sound. How can I resolve this?
