Hi all,
I'm a proud owner of my old Clevo P150EM and early this year made the upgrade to a GTX 970M and couldn't be happier with that, it looked like a new PC.
Today my Windows installed the Windows 10 anniversary update and it screwed my drivers and I can't get my graphic card to work.
Already tried various Nvidia Drivers, used DDU to uninstall old drivers, tried modded inf files, disable signature control, and nothing seems to be working. I'm getting kind of desperate here.
Does anybody here have the same problem or has the know how to help me? Please?
Cheers,
António

Can you install the nvidia drivers at all? Or does the driver installation fail?
-
Hello sirana, I have to mod th inf files in order to start the installation but as you've said the installation always fails. Do you know why?
-
You need to disable Driver Signature Enforcement to installed modded drivers under Windows 8, 8.X or 10. Otherwise, the installation will fail every time.
-
I did that. Tried to disable driver signature in advanced reboot options and even did as said in this site http://winaero.com/blog/disable-driver-signature-enforcement-permanently-in-windows-10/ and tried to disable it permanently.
-
In that case there could be something wrong with the driver mod, or Windows 10 Anniversary cancer is so screwed up that you'll never get it working right. If everything was working fine before that piece of garbage got downloaded, I would fall back to your previous OS. Anniversary Edition has presented serious problems for millions of people. Problem reports are very widespread, and many involve device drivers.
Edit: I just re-read your opening post. You've done the right things and it's not working out. (Good job on your part.)
I'd hang it up and go back to whatever OS you were happy with before. It seems the only thing that has changed in the advent of Windoze Anniversary Edition. You don't need this kind of crap in your life. (None of us deserve that kind of treatment... Micro$loth should be ashamed of themselves for ruining so many computers.)Last edited: Aug 13, 2016 -
When you go back, do it this way: http://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads/66640-How-to-Make-a-Windows-10-quot-Super-LTSB-quot-ISO
Then you'll be able to better control the MicroNazi OS.biklas7 likes this. -
What Mr. Fox said. But honestly I think Driver Signature Enforcement is the culprit, as long as your driver install makes it past the "compatibility check", for which you mod the .inf. If the driver installer fails before you can select the driver components, the .inf mod is done wrongly.
However, assuming it's driver signature enforcement, follow my guide:
Press the Windows button and type "cmd". Rightclick on Command Prompt and select "Run as Administrator".
In CMD, type
bcdedit.exe -set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
hit Enter. Then type
bcdedit.exe -set TESTSIGNING ON
hit Enter. Then restart the PC. If it worked, the lower right corner of your desktop should show your windows 10 build version (1607.xxxx).
Then try the driver installation again. Tell me if it worked. -
Give it up and go back. The cancer has metastasized and the end result can be fatal. No point in using this piece of trash from the Redmond Mafia. These morons think they can play god and we mustn't allow them to get away with that bull feces.

Well I always been a fan of Windows but since the forced updates to Windows 10 and now this **** I'm getting real tired of Microsoft.
Thank you both for your responses, first I will try as sirana said to check if it really is because of DriverSignature Enforcement that I can't install the drivers and if it's not I will do as Mr. Fox said and try to rollback to a previous version.
I will post the results.
Thank you again. -
Wow this is.... I'm speechless. What the hell are they smoking...
Do your best to prove this link wrong... otherwise you really have to roll back.
God, if I still had my 680M (it died 1 month ago) I would be in the same position as you, also had to mod the drivers for my x7200. The K5000M which I bought as a replacement surprisingly does not need a modded inf in W10, so I didn't notice the driver signature enforcement change. But honestly I think it should work as I remember seeing the kernel information *still* being displayed in the bottom right corner in the desktop when I installed the Anniversary Update.biklas7, Spartan@HIDevolution and Mr. Fox like this. -

Also update the Intel drivers using the ones from this thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/clevo-p870dm-dm-g-drivers-mirror.786094/ -
And install the Intel HD first, only afterwards the Nvidia ones.

Hey guys, have some updates to you.
Well, I've tried as you've said sirana and now the version of windows 10 build shows in the lower right corner, and tried to install that driver as Phoenix said.
First without mod the inf file it doesn't even start the installation it only says that it didn't find the compatible hardware to install this driver, then I've tried to mod the inf and the installation started but it always fails like every other driver I try to install.
I really don't know what I'm missing here. What the hell windows?? Now my PC is totally ****ed up, can't play any games in this. All this investment for nothing.
Do you guys have some ideas of what I might be doing wrong here? Do I really need to rollback? -
UPDATE 2:
I fell so dumb right now. I've been modding the inf file the wrong way! Phoenix, your driver did work!
I was following a guide to mod the inf file that was not working for me. This http://null-bin.blogspot.pt/2015/08/how-to-modify-nvidia-notebook-driver.html is the guide that worked.
Thanks you all for your support, I kinda fell like I've wasted your time with this, and the solution was right there.Spartan@HIDevolution likes this. -

Awesome bro! I know that driver would work! It's actually the best one I've used so far!biklas7 likes this. -
Can confirm, Redmond ****ed up hard. My Windows 7 updated itself to windows 10 after me explicitly told it not to (new windows updates circumvented GWX control panel somehow). I was like, okay, everything still works, so... okay fine, whatever. Then the anniversary disaster hit, crashed this entire shebang. Display drivers are out of wack, touchpad doesn't work, USB doesn't work in 3.0 mode, SD card reader doesn't work, WiFi doesn't work, speakers popping every 15 seconds...
If i had a wife, and she acted like this after our first anniversary, I'd take her to court and divorce her.Last edited: Aug 14, 2016Mr. Fox, Spartan@HIDevolution, temp00876 and 1 other person like this. -
I really don't understand the path they are taking. Windows 10 is a disaster, my God.

Ha, at least you got it to work! To sum up, the new windows Redmond update actually still allows for modified infs to be installed (if modded correctly), right?biklas7 likes this.

Bad news guys
forgot to try a game and report to you.
The driver is installed but when I start a game it won't start using the Nvidia Graphic Card, it always uses my Intel HD no matter what I do!
Thought about two reasons for this to happen:
- I have to use an older driver version since I see more people in the forums reporting success.
- I saw in premamod.com Prema saying that with version v2 of vBios any driver should work but we need the last version of intel HD drivers since as he said "The Intel driver does the switching. For latest nvidia driver you also need the latest Intel GPU driver or they won’t work together." and I did the update for the intel drivers to the last version and nothing. The problem still persists.
What do you guys think of this? Any ideas? -
Yes. Get rid of Anniversary Update. It's a joke for lots of people and I don't think your system is ever going to function correctly as long as you are using it.
-
I just finished installing the update and weirdly enough , 0 issues. Only thing i had to reinstall was the modded NVIDIA drivers.
And the system seem to be much snappier than before.
Getting rid of the telemetry and stuff now. -
I already have a stripped down LTSB and imaged a pristine backup of it. It's flawless and I'd like to keep it that way. I might try it just to see what happens. Macrium Reflect just provided an update for Anniversary Edition that I had been waiting for, as there was a rumor you could not restore a previous version with Reflect after applying the Anniversary cancer update. Don't know if that is true, but there was no way I was going to find out the hard way.
-
Yeah, i really shouldn't have taken the jump, no guarantee that this would have gone well. But luckily enough no issues.
-
Which version of the drivers did you installed? Also did you update Intel drivers?
-
Im on the 689.05 @j95 mod.
Nope , i didnt have any intel drivers other than the WiFi ones, they are still the same. -
I've already tried multiples versions of the Nvidia and Intel drivers with no luck. I'm getting kind of desperate, I'm even considering buying a new laptop with the new graphic cards by Nvidia since mine is already 4 years old.
Could you please post the link to that driver? -
What issues are you having ? (im sorry i haven't gone through the whole thread)
The modded driver is here : https://www.techinferno.com/index.p...t-upgrades-driver-support-modded-inf/&page=55
But i dont think you really need the modded drivers , the default ones should just work. But make sure you follow the instructions in the first post properly.biklas7 likes this. -
Thank you man.
Well my first problem was that after my windows updated itself to the last anniversary version, my modded drivers stopped working and I was having problems installing them again, but after a few tries I've realized that I was modding the inf file the wrong way and after I've managed to install the drivers, when I was ready to try a game my Nvidia gpu simply won't work. The game always start using the Intel gpu no matter what I do.
Already tried various driver versions of both intel and nvidia graphics card and nothing.
I don't now anymore what I can do
-
IS the Nvidia GPU showing up in the BIOS? Or in any hardware monitoring tools after using default drivers ? Im guessing you have to use modded drivers in order to even get the 970M going with the system. I dont have much experience with the P150EM.
-
Well it really didn't show in the BIOS before, but after installing the default drivers it shows in Device Manager and in Speccy so...
I can use the modded drivers in the link you've sent then? -
Dont think so, they are for systems that native-ly support the GPU's. You can give it a shot though.
And if its not showing up in the device manager even after the default drivers anymore, then something might be wrong with the GPU.biklas7 likes this. -
Man you rock! The modded driver worked! You saved my life
Thank you so much bro.
