Hey guys, new member here but I'm having some issues with the laptop I just purchased (NP9150 Sager)

The card installed is a 7970, I have not had any issues with the card, however, where my issue does arise is when Im trying to play games. The laptop is basically being used as a desktop right now as I needed something small for my dorm in France. The problem has to do with the resolution. I have the laptop hooked up to a television which is capable of 1080p, however, whenever I go into games the maximum resolution that I'm capable of achieving is 1440x900, it will not allow me to go higher than that. However, the interesting part is that when I unplug the hdmi cable and simply run it from my laptops screen I'm capable of selecting 1980x1050, once that resolution is set and if I plug the hdmi back in, the game will run at 1080p through my television, but as soon as I exit the game without unplugging and plugging the hdmi back it, I'm once again stuck at 1440x900 max.

What is going on and why is this happening? It's extremely frustrating having to unplug and plug back in this cord everytime I want to play at a decent resolution. It should be noted that when I go into ccc and look under desktops and displays, there absolutely nothing there, just two check boxes one saying detect whenever catalyst control center is opened and the second saying use manual detection only, which states I must click the detect displays button under creating and arranging desktops, however I cannot find that anywhere in CCC.

At a loss here guys, please help me out.

could be a driver issue, what version of catalyst drivers are you using?
also make sure it's plugged to the correct hdmi port for PC's, usually there's only 1 per tv
check th tv settings a well, some have settings to force higher resolutions

Ill try port two on the tv, I have no problem running 1080p on my desktop, that's not an issue. However, as soon as I go into games for some reason I am unable to choose anything higher than 1440x900. Im running beta 7 right now for drivers, I'm going to try to reinstall beta 8 and see if that fixes anything. Doubt it though

EDIT: When using 1080p on my desktop, I do get a message on the bottom saying its not the optimal resolution and I should revert to 1360x768. No idea whats going on.

have you tried with a different game? can also be throttling it by lowering the settings to match performance.

I apologize I'm just throwing debugging issues here, issues like that are kind of hard to track down thus you need to eliminate possible culprits.

I have tried different games, I don't think it would be a throttling issue because like I said, if I run the game from my laptop without it plugged into the TV, I have access to the higher resolutions, as soon as I plug it into the tv though, I love them. Very weird anyway trying a fresh install of beta 8, Ill let you know what happens.

EDIT: New driver installed, the problem persists, very odd.

What modes have you tried this in (extend, duplicate)? Have you tried disabling the internal display when attaching the tv?

Ive tried all modes in regards to display, however, it appears Im able to get 1080p to work in other games, apparently this is something which is exclusive to Black Ops 2, I'm able to get it to work in 1080p if I run it in windowed mode. Oh well, I guess that works

I thought you said you had tried other games? It's not a surprise to see another poorly coded PC port however.
