Hey, I just got my laptop yesterday and the sound really sucks when I'm not using headphones. Is this normal? Also, I had upgraded to Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-Fi 7.1 Xtreme Audio Notebook Express Card, how do I find out if I really have it on my laptop? Grandma terms would be appreciated =)

You want to hear something lousy, listen to an Asus G1... Absolutely horrible... One of the main reasons I got rid of it.

You mean the speakers are horrible? Well, what are you used to?

The sound in laptops is never that good (well, unless you have a Toshiba X205 ;)) so . . . I would not worry about it. The Sound Blaster card won't improve your sound out of the speakers that much.

The sound quality is good, its need some configuration within the RealTek software.
Set the Environment option to Carpeted Hallway. And if you want even more quality, set the Equalizer to Soft (as in Soft Rock)

Yes, the speakers are not that good. I need to max out the volume in order to use it w/out headphones and when I do, there's lots of static and also echoing. I have a Dell e1405 and the sound on it is ALOT better =(
