    HI,

Just got my new NP8690 from GentechPC 3 days ago. The issue i'm having is when running 3d intensive programs like World of Warcraft or Crysis, i get blinking textures at random throughout the games. Changing the video settings seems to make it go away for awhile but it always pops back up after awhile. I don't think it is a heat issue as i have monitored it all the while i have been using the laptop. The video card never breaks 73 degrees at max load. All the other temps are well with the normal limits ( well after i redid the thermal compound on the CPU, was badly applied from the factory). I've also tried different drivers to no avail. Does this sound like a dying video card? Should i RMA this thing and try to get a new one? Any advice would be good.

Sounds like video memory issue for textures, but don't take my word for it.

Clean the GPU socket and connector and reseat the card. Then try again. Also, which drivers are you using specifically?

Hi londerville and welcome to nbr.
this might be a silly question but the amount of people that dont check this is amazing.
have you got your battery setting to high performance?
thermal compound could be a factor. Gophn has a walk through on the main clevo page but i cant put a link as im at work.
also when changing your video card drivers did you use a program like driver cleaner pro in safe mode to remove all remnants of the previous driver.

I've tried the battery setting on both balanced and performance, no difference in either. As for the drivers I've tried the release drivers that came with installation CDs as well as the 186.81 drivers from nvidias site. Also tried the new 195.55 drivers from nvidia, but they wouldn't install. I used driversweeper in between driver installs. Will try and reseat the vid card I guess and see if that helps.

Well, i reseated the video card and applied new thermal paste to the video card. Didn't affect the blinking textures in games at all.
