So I've been having problems with my 9170 ever since I installed windows 8 and wondered if anyone had these problems and/or knew the solution.

Basically clicking and dragging I lose the click if I get near the edges of the touchpad or sometimes lift my finger (not 100% sure what exactly causes it and it's not always 100% of the time, or at least maybe I haven't identified what specific thing triggers it). I've disabled the swipe in from the left to switch to last app since I felt like that came up all the time unwanted and maybe it was causing the problem. I also turned off the swipe in from left bringing up the recent apps charm. I also turned off the tap to click. I don't think the swipe in from the right charm ever gets brought up accidentally (my finger don't seem to hit that accidentally ever). So at this point I only have the hard buttons work for click.

I click on a file to drag it or to try and select a block of text and I'd say at LEAST half the time I lose the click randomly and I know for certain that I haven't released the hard button.

I'm fairly positive I didn't have these problems in Windows 7 (it was a while ago I switched over and just kind of lived with it) so I'm pretty certain it's a software based issue but who knows, maybe hardware broke coincidentally at the same time I upgraded.

Anyone have any idea is going on?

Yeah those installed. But I'm still getting this issue. It's really starting to get frustrating.

Any luck with the Windows default driver (I'm not even sure this is a driver issue, but worth a shot)?
