I asked this before, but didn't really get a clear answer, so I'll try to be more clear. In the m15x (Alienware) it is generally recommended that you don't buy a 2.8GHz processor, because it overheats and downclocks when used for gaming. I am wondering if the case is true for the m860tu too, or if you cannot tell until it is released and tested.

The M15x's 2.8 GHz processor is an EE (extreme edition) processor with a TDP of 44W (45?). The M860TU's 2.8 GHz processor is not an EE processor and has a TDP of only 35W, so it will dissipate less heat.

Plz... I have enough trouble understanding (self Identified noob). A simple yes or no would suffice.

No one can really tell until someone gets one, but NO. Yous should not have any overheating issues as these cpu's have been tested with this system very well and as metromike stated, it uses a more energy eficient 35w processor, so it will run cooler and clevo are renouned for their superior cooling capabilities.

To put it simply, NO. thie overheating of a 2.8ghz in the m15x should not repeat itself on the M860tu.

what do you need your laptop though? you say you are a techno noob after all ^_^
clock speed is the last thing you should look for in a cpu really. as long as it has 6mb cache, then you have a descent machine. i would reccomend the p9500 as it uses even less power 25w (will save battery)

unless you are doing cpu intensive tasks like cad and physics symulations, then you will not notice the difference in clock speed in performance.
