    Hello,

How can I force the processor to run at the lower speed? I tried NHC (error loading driver, probably it does not run on 64 bit) and RmClock (setting the profil to power save has no effect) without success. Is there any other program that might work? I do not want to have to keep it running on baterry all the time and anyway if I use it at 75 % it will hold for maximum half and hour.

So does RMclock not work for you?

Not really. It worked on XP, but it has no effect on Windows 7. I set it to power saving but the speed sill remains at maximum when I run something intensive.

It partially works. I can change the multiplier from 8 to 6. It stays like that for a minute or so and after jumps back to 8.

What kind of CPU options do you have in your BIOS?

I know in my BIOS I can set the CPU speed to be "always low".

I will check the my Bios next time I restart, though i doubt there is one. The Bios for my laptop is quite limited.

No one has mentioned the Windows built in power settings to throttle the cpu?

right click on power icon in system tray. click 'power options'. choose a plan, or create a new plan and click 'change plan settings'. click 'change advanced power settings'. hit the plus sign by 'processor power management', and then 'maximum processor state.' if you choose 50%, windows will automatically change the multiplier to throttle the cpu to 50% of its stock speed.

Thanks. It works. I guess this was the reason why rm clock and the crystal program were not working.

I tried that. At 80 % load the baterry holds for 30 min max, then I have to re-plug it.

Yep, I'm not a Windows fan-boy by any means, but most people don't realize just how much the OS can actually do for them...
