    Hey guys,

Wanted to make an account and share what I purchased even with complete anxiety and worries about everything from BIOS to quality.

I'll start off by mentioning that I am new here.. but have read for many months before my purchase today. these forums lead me to talking with @Donald@HIDevolution and @Ted@HIDevolution before this gigantic purchase. I am also an Alienware 15 R1 with a graphics Amp owner and I have had so many damn problems with the thing that I have jsut had enough and needed to look elsewhere.

My Alienware was a 980m version but I have a graphics amplifier with a 1080gtx in it. I constantly have driver issues, performance issues, nvidia optimus issues, CPU throttling issues and much, much more. Dell replaced my board twice, never fixed the initial problems and I gave up. I initially really liked the idea of traveling with a decent 980m and being home to dock into something more powerful.. The Technology is there.. but it is very buggy and requires patience and restarts/driver tweaks every time I swapped from undocked to docked.

Now that Laptops have desktop grade video cards and desktop CPU's, I think it is time to seek something else. So, here I am. Specs are attached here:

I decked it out.. 3x M.2's with 1tb 960 pros in raid.. pretty much anything that I could select to add more power or cooling to it, I selected. 2x 1080's in SLI and a lottery binned CPU.

However, one of the big let-downs I have already experienced is that the Prema BIOS isn't available yet and that was kind of a big deal to me in regards to the terrible experience I had with throttling in my Alienware. One of my questions for you guys is this - Am I going to experience any type of throttling or "less than great" performance with the default BIOS installed? I read all the benefits of Prema and it just makes me groan really hard that I've gotta wait until possibly July to get it.. I feel like theres a huge bottleneck already right when I get it. Has anyone experienced problems with a Clevo BIOS holding their system back?

Additionally, I talked with ted from HidEvo and I asked about Optimus in this model. He says there isnt any Optimus in this and I wanted to try and understand this more... The i7 7700k has intel HD built in.. I *REALLY* don't want my laptop ever using that video card in any way shape or form at any time. Is this going to come disabled in this laptop?... Can I disable it so that I always use the 1080's? The 2 display prots ted says are hard wired into the 1080's and dont have to "bypass" the HD intel adapter (which my Alienware 15 currently has to) - What about the HDMI port? The laptop screen? are these wired to these 1080's as well?

I would be happy to answer any questions once I get the laptop and I'll post pics of everything because it seems there really isnt much information about the KM1 yet...

Thank you all so much for everything.. Hopefully I could get some answers about this during production to keep my mind at ease since this was a boatload of money for me.

    Cheers,
    Darrell

Congrats on your new machine :)

It comes with Intel Graphics disabled, so yes everything works on the GTX 1080s.

There should be no throttling even with the stock BIOS, although its quite limited in options.

Question: Why on earth have you ordered 2x330w and 2x780w bricks ? 1x 780w is already overkill. 2x may be if you need a backup, but then why the 330s ?

Oh and for your information, there's already plenty of information regarding the P870KM1 on this forum.

    Hey there,

I ordered the 780w power supplies - 1 for travel and 1 for my desktop setup. The 2x 330w's werent really a choice for me as I travel a lot for a living and didn't want to carry the 2 bricks. Additionally, I think there are multiple "possible" failure points with 3-4 plugs including the adapter... and that scared me lol. I couldn't "take them off" as they come with the laptop and I didn't have much a choice.

I see .. That's unfortunate. I hope in the future Clevo switches to a single brick.

Btw can't see warranty for the laptop in the pic. Hope you got the max warranty option too. I think power adapters and battery are covered only for 1 year, but for the rest you should get the full warranty.

Congrats man, just tag me on the forum once you get it so I can help you out tweaking the system and getting the most out of it.

I like your configuration but I would never use Windows 10 without the Pro Edition as it gives you access to the Group Policy Editor which allows you to tweak the OS to your liking.

But the good news, I just discovered this little tool that allows you to use the Group Policy Editor even on the Home version although I haven't tested it myself since all my OSes are Pro

I like the fact that you almost maxed out the specs.... Go big...or go home!

If the budget could have managed it then 2x 2TB M.2 would have left room for expansion in the future, but still it should be pretty epic.
