    I have been thinking about to purchasing the N5792 / now-N5796 from XoticPC, fully loaded with vista 64, however, before I do I have a couple of questions and hopefully some of you could respond to them;

    When this unit is delivered will it be ready to go, or do I have to fine tune it first by installing the latest driver's and such? Doesn't it come with the latest driver's installed?

    What is the process or steps you would take when first receiving a brand new laptop, or is it ready to load your software and your good to go?

    All of the computer's I've purchased in the past were good to go right out of the box, but I have been reading here all the latest driver's and bios updates you need to do or should do. Sorry, I may be a bit confused.
    Thanks for reading and answering.

    Actually, even most of the national brand-name computers typically need some updating and whatnot before they're ready to go. Usually, either the OEM will do the final update before they mail it off to you, or else the store you purchase from (e.g., _Bestbuy) will do the final update before they send you off with the system. Keep in mind, though, that that's part of what you pay such a high premium for when you buy a national brand-name - but then again, why pay such a high price for something you can just as easily do yourself (and probably with fewer mistakes than with the other options)?

    The only thing I felt a need to update was the video drivers. The stock ones just didn't do well on Crysis patch 1.2 and also seemed to have a few wake up from screen saver issues. I'm the using 175.80 driver from laptopvideo2go at the moment.

    It will be installed with the latest drivers that is offered by Sager. You may be to tune to tweak the system for your specific use.

    What is the process or steps you would take when first receiving a brand new laptop, or is it ready to load your software and your good to go?

    It is ready for you to load your OS right out of the box (if you don't purchase Windows) all Drivers and utilities are included. If you purchase it with a OS it will be ready start up and use right out of the box. :)

    Hope this helps. :D

    Thanks for answering, but one other question;
    What are the posts/threads about that run through the steps to update the bios and all the driver's then? I still don't understand or am not clear why you need to do that.
    Again, sorry if I'm being redundant in my question.

    You dn tneed to update the bios, you are probably referring to the KBC/EC firmware which is the fan bios (sort of). Some people wanted to try out different fan firmwares to see which one gave them the smoothest and quietest fans during non load times.

    440 posts.. since when1?! o_O

    Those are for people who ordered earlier versions of the laptop. Maybe a few months down the road you might have to do an update but when you get a brand new one, everything current is in it. All those guides are for existing owners.

    Will the N5796 have quieter fans than the N5793 or will they be the same fans? How about the GJOD (green jack of death) issue, has Clevo or Sager addressed that problem, or at least acknowledged that it does exist, since plenty of folks on here have complained about it?

    Same fans most likely cause it is the exact same chassis.
