I have decided on the configuration for the Sager NP8662 now, but am curious if I should be upgrading my processor. Here is the build as is...
Display: 15.4" WUXGA LCD with Matte Finish Surface (1920X1200)[+$175.00]
- Processor: 45nm Intel® Core 2 Duo Processor P8700 / 3MB L2 Cache, 2.53GHz, 1066MHz FSB
- Video & Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 260M Graphics with 1GB DDR3 Video Memory
- Operating System: Genuine MS Windows® VISTA Home Premium 64-Bit Edition
- Memory: 4GB Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1066MHz - 2 X 2GB[+$55.00]
- Primary Hard Disk Drive: 250GB 7200rpm SATA 300 Hard Drive[+$20.00]
- Optical Drive: 8X DVD±R/RW/4X +DL Super-Multi Drive & Software
- Wireless Network Card: Intel Wi-Fi Link 5300AGN - 802.11A/B/G/N Wireless LAN Module
- Bluetooth: Internal Bluetooth V2.0 + EDR Module
I intend to use the laptop primarily for gaming. The other processor I'm considering is the T9600 / 6MB L2 Cache, 2.80GHz, 1066MHz FSB. Would I see a sizeable increase in performance by making this upgrade? I'm not sure it's worth the extra $130 if it's only a small improvement as I am already pushing my budget to the limit.

From the way you are describing your budget, paying $130 more for a 10% faster CPU isn't worth it. Stick with the P8700.

Yes... considering the Q9000 may make a difference, though, but it might slightly reduce the perfomance of some applications. I would recommend staying with the P8700 until it becomes too weak to play games in the future, and then upgrade it yourself.
