Purchasing The 5793 Tomorrow...

I've been on this message board since January trying to figure out the notebook that is best suited for me, and I'm finally placing my order tomorrow...here are the specs:

Sager NP5793 Custom Laptop (Built on Clevo M570RU-U / M571RU-U)
- 17" WUXGA "Glare Type" Super Clear Ultra Bright Glossy Screen (1920x1200)
- ~Intel® T9300 45nm "Penryn" Core™2 Duo 2.5GHz w/6MB L2 On-die cache - 800MHz FSB
- 512MB PCI-Express nVidia GeForce 8700GT DX10
- 2,048MB DDR2 667 PC2 5300 (2 SODIMMS) Dual Channel Memory
- Panasonic UJ-220 Blu-Ray Super Multi DVD+/ -R/RW BD-R/RE Dual Layer Burner - 100GB 7200RPM (Serial-ATA 150)
- Windows XP Pro SP2 w/ Drivers, Utilities CD

I know the video card is "so-so" but I plan on doing some gaming, but using this as a multimedia powerhouse, thus why I opted for the Blu-Ray.

But I do have a few last questions...

-How long does xoticpc usually take for shipping/build time?

-Orange Or Silver? What are your opinions?

-And how is the "messenger bag" they send you?

Good choice so far but yes like a lot of people i would only point out the 8700... but other than that config looks good

1)Build time for XoticPC is 3-5 business days and shipping time depends on where you are but i dont think it would take more than a week at most.

2) Orange FTW (But silver looks good if you like to look businessy type )

3)Dunno about that yet.Mine has just gone into testing phase

 

my friend said he wont be using the bag, and getting a new one for his 5793. Will ask him why he doesnt like it.

 

The bag delivered with mine (I guess you will get the same one, unless they gives you another, than the one from the factory), is not the best quality. It is okay, but wount offer you much protection for the lappy

Also, there is not much room for "extra" stuff, such as books and such, if you plan on carrying your lappy around for school, work ect.. I would say, the one delivered with the lappy, is fine for carrying it around to friends and places, where it wount get bumped around, but other than that get you one with some better protection and more room

 

I certainly appreciate all of your help. But if anyone owns the m570ru with the 8700, can I play games like UT3 or COD4 at medium settings?

 

8700M GT should be able to play most current games at Medium-High.

 

yes the 8700 will easily play ut3 , my sons 7600 plays at medium settings

the factory included bag is a bit cheap, but is ok until you can save up for something more sturdy

It seems then the 8700 is very well suited for alot of newer games. I just wasn't sure if I would be dedicated to gaming enough to spend an extra $500 for the 8800. As long as I can still enjoy UT3 I'm happy

 

I still use the factory included bag every day on my 5791 and it fits the laptop,a book bag thing and a mouse,adapter,and believe or not, headsets when needed

 

Well I took the leap!!

I placed my order on April 1st and I'm in Phase 2!!! So hopefully I'll get it by the 7th (fingers crossed)

I actually decided on getting the Microsoft Edge Messenger Bag from Circuit City. I really love the fact that its a black finish with orange lining (just like my lappy!). And the $40 price tag isn't too shabby either!!

smashing news, and great idea on the lappy bag, that means that I would match my notebook, my mobile (sony ericsson w880i) and lappy bag all black and orange

 

Heh, I also have the 579x, a w810i (black + orange) and a black pair of jeans +orange t-shirt.

I could just be horribly impatient but is it odd that I placed my order on the Tuesday, went into Phase 2 on Wednesday, and its now Saturday and I'm still in Phase 2???

I'm only really concerned because it seems most people who have recently ordered a 5793 have had theirs built, shipped, and at their doorstep in a matter of 5 days.

 

It might be different in your case due to some differences in order. I see you have XP and the BlueRay. That is sure to slow down the production.
Just be patient,and congrats on the purchase

dennis1985, awesome choice. I'll be ordering the same lappy except i'm opting for the 8800 (i'm a big pc gamer) and skipping on the bluray for now. Good news is, it's always upgradable in the future.

Thanks for the link to the bag, that matches my Flyers orange, not to mention the orange trim on the laptop, good find.

How did you pay for yours? I went with the Echeck on XoticPC to get the discount and used that 100+ that I saved for next day air. That could be a huge reason I got mine so fast. I went from Phase 1 on Tuesday morning, to getting an email friday morning stating I was in Phase 4 (shipped) with a tracking number. When I checked the tracking number I found out that it actually shipped Thursday and that it was about to be dropped off at my house at the moment I was checking it all on my BlackBerry!
Between Phase 1 and Phase 4, I had no clue what was going on!

 

That happened to me too, sometimes the status doesn't get updated.

I called and asked about it, they told me it shipped the day before.

So just hop on live chat if you are wondering about your order.

Building/Shipping is quick assuming they have all the parts. Blu-Ray might be special order.

Honestly, I would think the credit card would go through just as fast if not faster. Doesn't take very long for a card to be approved but I really don't know. It takes 3 days for the Echeck to clear through PayPal (even though it came out of my account the next day!!).
Wish I knew the answers for ya man.... I'm a hypocrite for saying this, but be patient! lol I bet you have it in your hands and we won't see you for days by the middle of the week!

 

Well update on my order...

I'M IN PHASE 4!!!!.....AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

It has been sent for delivery at 8:45am (eastern) from the bronx ny, which is right next to my hometown. So I'm figuring within the next few hours it should be here

 

Sure your probably enjoying your new 5793 laptop, hope you get the time to post some comments on how it's going though. Ordered almost the same setup as you did today....well same video card at least and am wondering how the gamings coming along.

Excited and hoping to be able to get back home about a week from now to pick it up (damn you work...damn you...jobs suck!!!)
