I need help!
I wanna get some upgrades for my sager N9750V~
I wanna buy
1st - an additional 1gb ram so that my sager will have 2gb rams in total
(Or is there perhaps such a thing as a 2gb ram these days?)
(Im quite outdated)
2nd - a newer graphic card for my sager N9750
(Im using Nvidia 7800 GTX at the moment)
Reason i ask for help is because
1st - i dont know where to buy it
2nd - i dont know if the things that i buy will be compatible with my laptop
thats kind of the reason why i ask
im assuming you guys are the pro here
and that there are a few owners of sager 9750 already?

1: 1GB of RAM is common today. Your's uses 200 pin DDR, so any of these will work: http://www.rjtech.com/miva/merchant...0-7950-512&Category_Code=ACC&Product_Count=16. These are all 1GB sticks. Check to see if you have 1x 1GB or 2x 512MB installed now.
2: Your laptop is one of the few to support a modular video card. The best one you can get is a Go7950GTX, but it is a little expensive at $550 - Link -

You can also buy those items directly from Sager. Their toll free number is 1-800-669-1624.
For new systems it is usually better to buy from a Sager dealer so that you can get their Support and pricing which is usually better than going direct, but for parts like video cards it is usually better to go directly to Sager. -
Hello Everyone,
For the D900K to have the Videocard upgraded, does the Motherboard need to be a certain version number? For example going from a Go7800GTX to a Go7950GTX.
Thank you,
Monnie -

It does for the NP9860/9880 but I don't think it does for the NP9750 (see http://www.powernotebooks.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2407) ...but the best thing to do is contact Sager directly with that question.

Hmmmm
im all the way in australia though
the reason why i ask for the DDR RAM is because i dont know if ill be getting the right one? Like... DDR1 or DDR2? stuff like that? (I dont know much about DDR to begin with)
As for what i have,
i have 1 stick of 1gb
so thats why i can get another 1gb stick. But then.... yeah~
Which one should i get? DDR1? DDR2? Or it doesnt matter~ -
both the 1st and 2nd link
leads to the same website -
just go to www.rjtech.com
go to Accessories for the videocard
as for the RAM:
- go to any online store to buy DDR400 SO-DIMM:
- Newegg, eWiz, ZZF, Frys.com, Mwave, etc.... -
So it has to be a DDR400?
alright, ill check it~
btw, as for the graphic card
is it like easy to install? -
this notebook can top out at 2 gigs
Make sure to update your notebook's BIOS to the latest version before you update the videocard.
here ya go: http://www.eurocom.com/support/drivers/bios/main_bios.html -
ummm
you mean something like this?
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/KINGSTON-1GB...8QQihZ012QQcategoryZ74942QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
for the DDR -
No, that looks like desktop memory. Here is the link I wanted to give you originally. All of these are 200 pin DDR memory sticks.
-
Charr is right, those are what you should be looking at.
-
so you mean i should get this one?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820226014
(yikes, expensive)
btw, should i just get the graphics card?
its double the capacity of my current graphic which is better i guess
i mean, are they coming up with a new one anytime soon?
i just dont wanna get this one and then later find out that they're coming up with a new one -
Heres a better deal:
http://www.ewiz.com/detail.php?name=D400SB1G_M
its still has Lifetime warranty, like all the other brands
eWiz is a very respectable vendor, I have purchased many things from them, fast shipping, no problems. -
im assuming these are all in US dollars?
and also, fast shipping within US right?
what about to aussie
(same goes with the graphic card)
btw, yeah
what are your thoughts of me purchasing the new graphic card gophn?
ts double the capacity of my current graphic which is better i guess
i mean, are they coming up with a new one anytime soon?
i just dont wanna get this one and then later find out that they're coming up with a new one -
I would recommend to contact them (email is easiest) about these questions.
Or you can find one or both of these within your country.
I have a 780GTX 256mb, its still plenty fast.... is $500 worth an addition 256mb and 20%-ish of a performance increase?
Since I do not have the disposable income, my rational decision would be:
No, its not worth it. The 7800GTX is still faster than most of the other gaming GPUs on the market (7900GS and under, even all of the 8x00 cards that are out at the moment).
If I had the extra cash to burn, then:
Why not.Top it off.
The 7950GTX seems to be the last videocard that could be made for this notebook.... although there is a slim chance that a DX10 card can come out for it as well.... but doubtful. -
thats what i thought -_-
yeah alright, im sticking with you gophn
you are like my Sager 9750V senior since we both own the same laptop
ill wait a bit longer
but as for the RAM, do you think i should get it?
what about you?
when i bought my 9750V, i bought the V version instead of the other one (I think its C)
the V has better specs -
Oh yes one other thing
im thinking of purchasing another sager 9750V battery
do you know where is the cheapest deal i can find it?
my battery only runs for like 15 seconds before it goes down now -_- -
UPDATE: (items for purchase in Australia)
For memory:
1) It looks like eWiz will ship to Australia for about $70...
...making the total around $150 for that 1GB DDR400 SO-DIMM
2) You can purchase it directly in Australia, but it seems more expensive:
- the best price I found for 1GB DDR400 SO-DIMM was from Kingston for $178
http://www.kingstonmemory.net.au/valueram_laptop_ddr_400_memory.php
As for the 7950GTX for (D900K/T notebook):
1) Buying from RJtech.com (US-based), the card costs $549 (+$85 for shipping) =
... total is around $630
2) I would recommend to contact ITC Mobile (Australia based), best to call.
Sales: ph 08.9486 7166
Cust. Service: ph 08.9486 7166
Ask them about what it would cost for you to purchase the 7950GTX through them. -
How many times have I went into detail to take care of a notebook [especially a high-end one]:
Remember these things to have your notebook be healthy for years:
1) Battery: to maintain the longevity of any rechargeable battery
- you must NEVER overcharge it [especially for long durations of time] by keeping it plugged into AC
- when it reaches 100% you should unplug it and let it discharge to 5-15%, then plug it back to power
- OR you can just charge it to 50%+ and remove the battery and store in cool place [remember to use it occasionally to charge and discharge it].
2.) Heat: to prevent a healthy notebook from overheating
- ALWAYS use the notebook on a hard & flat surface
- RECOMMENDED to be used on a notebook cooler... namely the Zalman ZM-NC1000
- (for Clevo's) ALWAYS use the Fan Speed Toggle (Fn+F2) to switch all fans in the notebook to Max Speed (defaults at Auto Speed) when gaming and such.
- check your fans underneath occasionally (at least once a month) for any dust clogs [clean them out with Q-tips and air cans/compressors]
- ALWAYS monitor the temps (CPU, GPU, HDD, etc..) to watch for fluctuations, which would indicate overheating
By doing these simple things, your entire system will easily last for more than 3 years. -
Yikes, thats expensive~
what on earth do they need US70 for -_-
they're gonna ship it with 2kg dumbells or something?
(Im assuming that these rams are pretty light)
as for the graphic card,
as you've said, this will probably be the last graphic card
that they will make for this notebook, so if waiting longer wont
help in terms of waiting for a better graphic card, what about waiting
longer so that the price of that card will go down?
do you think that might happen?
by the way, i really like this notebook~
ive seen the new sager and i would STILL buy this one
its the only one with the 2 cd hubs -
you mean buy a new one and then replace it right?
cause right now i feel like just removing the battery
and just let it run on the charger. WIll that do? -
yes you would have to buy a new one and recycle the old one (because batteries are toxic to trash).
for the time, you would probably have to remove the battery and run on AC power.... however the battery is a leg for the notebook to balance on, so you might have to prop up that corner with a pencil or something.
FYI: My notebook is as healthy as when I built it back in March 2006. The battery still holds the same 1:40-ish minute charge as if it were new. So please take care of your notebook. -
yeah~
thats the dodgy bit about this laptop~
the battery acts as the balance -_-
