    What is that "Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter"? What does it do, why is it here, do I need it? Can I disable it?

    Seriously, I hate it when random unwanted stuff appears without my knowledge...

    It's a virtual device that can be created in Windows 7 to use your laptop as a hotspot for your mobile phone, or other wifi device.

    To disable it, you should uninstall any software (e.g. Intel's ProSETwireless suite) that might be using it, leave only drivers and then you have to do some administrative command prompt wizardry.

    Hmmm when I play SC2 at home using my LinkSys "G" router, I've got no issues.

    But at work, the "N" router (some Huawei chinese shhh**) causes terrible lagspikes. I thought that Virtual Wifi Miniport something was causing it, but appearently, after disabling it, still the same lagspikes.

    Tried disabling the "N" on the router trough the ISP's web based control panel - no dice. Cant be disabled.

    Tried disabling my Intel 6230 card's "N" signal receiver, did it. Using "G" standard - same lagspikes.

    Well, maybe I need to get myself a good LinkSys router at work too.......that Huawei stuff is getting on my nerves majorly.
