I have been having a really weird issue going on a few weeks now and kinda curious if anyone else has had any of the sames issues and if anyone has a fix. First i work in a Iraq so i have to constantly blow out my laptop which is not an issue i do bounce around alot and i am on the go but if has never been an issue. But with that said i power off and unplug the laptop flip it over and go to work. Put it back together plug it in and i am ready to play my heart out. Lately looking thru alot of forums and picking up alot of tools to make sure i monitor temps and misc. stuff i was using Crystal CPUID to see my cpu's numbers and had to do a double take. So i did a few restarts and still the same thing i will link pictures to show you what i mean. What is happening is that anytime my laptop is completely powered down and unplugged when i initially start back up my system clock goes from 266 to 199 which causes my clock speed to go from 2.6Ghz to 1.9Ghz. First i was thinking that maybe it was because of no load so i went online and looked for something that would test my cpu found and and it confirmed it. The only fix i have for it so far is multiple restarts and resetting my pc to default values from the bios screen. This as you can tell can get very aggravating specially when i am moving around alot and the laptop is unplugged because i a moving to a new location. I am pretty sure this is not normal so my question is can it be fixed without having to send this thing back stateside which in my position is really not an option currently with all the traveling i am doing for the foreseeable future? Thx for any help the links for the screenshot's.

Welcome to the NBR forums. :)

I do not think its a problem.

The Crystal CPUID is buggy for certain notebooks.. especially if its a notebook using a desktop CPU.

I highly recommend to use RMclock instead.

RMclock is great since I use it to monitor the temps and speed of my CPU.

I also created P-States to make the CPU throttle with "Performance on Demand"

Pretty nice program, I have it startup automatically when Windows starts. :)

+1 for RMClock, I have my battery performance as I want it, and by Undervolting I got a cooler CPU and better battery life.

Thx for all your replies but it seems i really do have an issue. This time i just power the laptop all the way down unplugged it for like 1 minute plugged back on and restarted it. I did this on 3 separate occasions starting from yesterday after i got the RMClock software just to make sure this was not some intermittent issue. Each time after i got clock speeds to run back to close to normal i would do a complete shut down and restart and the numbers are always the same. Clock speeds are at 1995Mhz max and system clock speeds are at 199Mhz. So i dunno do i have a funky cpu or is it a bios issue? Screeny's attached at the bottom of the post.

What BIOS version do you have?

Turn on the notebook, make sure you disable the splash in BIOS
    - press Pause/break key when the POST screen comes on to see which BIOS version you have.

Contact your vendor to get a new BIOS.... or ask one of the many D900C owners here to it to you.

Your BIOS is a previous revision.

    The latest is 1.00.16

It might. The latest BIOS fixes a number of little bugs.

Contact any member here with a D901C from Sager (9262), from Kobalt (Comanche), from PCMicroworks (BlackHawk)... they might send you the BIOS if they have it.

Tell us how it goes after the BIOS update.

Well i flashed to a new bios current version is:

    D900C 1.00.17a
    KBC\EC Firmware Revision 1.00.09N

The problem still persists clocks are at the posted limits when the laptop is powered off and unplugged. I guess maybe i got a bad cpu. Any other recommendations?

Take some screenshots of RMclock in:
    - CPU Settings
    - Management
    - Profiles (all parts)

I can help you use RMclock to bypass any issues to run the CPU at full speed.

Looks like your CPU's voltage is not toggling to peak... in order to achieve the standard 2.66GHz.

Lemme see which settings to config RMclock...

    Open RMclock
    - go to Profiles
    - (under CPU performance states editor) Uncheck everything except the first and last option.
    ..... which should only leave: Index 0 - FID 6.0x and Index 4 - FID 10.0x
    - (still there... very important): look at the VID for Index 4, make sure to select its max value... which should be around 1.372V (for a Q6700)
    - now hit Apply
    - (still there again, on top area): select " Performance on Demand" for all four fields on top.... then hit Apply again

Now go to Profiles > Performance on demand section:
    - Check Use P-state transitions (PST) options for both AC power and Battery.
    - hit Apply.

Make sure the Settings has RMclock to startup with Windows (with Registry).

Restart and now leave the monitoring section open and run wPrime (set to 4 threads)

The max voltage that can be set for any of the VID settings is maxed out at 1.2875v.

that does not seem right at all.

Even my 2-year old dual core CPU can go to 1.400v in RMclock.

It might actually be the CPU.... contact the vendor of your notebook, and tell them about this thread.

Also, contact anther D901C owner with the Q6700 to confirm this voltage thing.

Another thing, you can try to bypass the FID and VID (in RMclock).

Under Management section, in "CPU default settings" section
    - try to set the CPU default selection to a different option and hit Apply

    - first, it should be FID/VID found at startup (default).. if not, try that and hit Apply
    - if the first did not work, try CPU-defined default FID/VID, hit Apply.
    - if not working, try Custom FID/VID, set your voltage to max, hit Apply.
