The Q9550 showed up on Newegg this morning for purchase. The Q9450 has been there a while. Possibly this is a sign that Q9550 stocks are improving and we may see them in the 9262 soon at other places besides PCMW..

Q9550 availability will continue to improve over the next few weeks, though on this side of the pond we aren't expecting it to happen until next month now.

The X3360s are now available so that's a good indication of the Q9550 status.

This is one reason why competition in the market is so important - AMDs lack of decent desktop processors has let Intel concentrate it's production on mobile CPUs so we have been left with no Q9550s for 6 weeks

still curious if the over price of the Q9550 is rele worth it. I mean like, over 200 more dollars for .2 ghz... i suppose for enthusiasts it is. But I hate when like the ONE processor thats the highest at the time is more money than the average increase in price per speed. Ya kno wat i mean? Like the next step down from the Q9450 isnt 200 dolalrs.

Well, you could get the cheapest config from a reseller and wait for a special offer on newegg or something...
They are desktop CPUs, right? so..use that advantage :)

See if they'll work with you (I think you may still be within the 30-day window, if I recall correctly - tho' I have been having senility moments recently :D ); xoticpc seem to be fairly reasonable folk, as I'm sure you've discovered.

Yea, I've been proven time and time again that Xotic is run by amazing people. Mostly I was just kidding though. :) I won't need more than the Q9450 I have for a while.

hmm, i've been waiting for this to be in stock before i make my order for NP9262.
but when i saw the $200+ price difference, does it really worth?
$200+ more for an extra .5 multiplier?!
    hmm ~_^

The best of anything, even if it is a tiny difference from the second best, always costs more than it should. :)

I'm not saying the Q9550 is the best, but hopefully you get my point.

To some it might be worth it. I know that if I didn't just recently buy the Q9450 I would've payed an extra $200+ for the Q9550.

Yea, hopefully our processors don't give us any trouble till then. Seems like a good time to invest in an upgrade.
