Sager NP9262 with Intel Q9650 and E8600 (E0 Stepping) are now available
There were issues with the new E0 Stepping Q9650 and E8600 processors where they would not correctly POST after a warm boot. Once Sager became aware of this issue more than a week ago, Sager informed Clevo and have worked closely with them to resolve the issue. Sager has finally received the finalized and approved version of updated BIOS version 1.00.20aS by Clevo earlier this week, and this new bios has passed Sager testing and is now ready to be released so that we may add the new Intel Q9650 & E8600 in our processor lineup for the Sager NP9262 system.

So Eurocom was right ^^
Thanks Justin for the Add in
Don't forget to update the "News" Section in http://www.xoticpc.com/

Great News Justin.
I ve just sent the email to XoticPC about the upgrade to the Q9650.
That puts a smile on my face after all those delays on the 9262
-
Right about what? That the Q9650 would work in a D901C, or that there weren't any problems that needed to be resolved?
-
I don’t see how Eurocom was right. They were saying there was some solution that didn’t involve the bios update? That appears to have been clearly wrong.
Seems like Sager did the work here to get the bios implemented correctly. -
It was Clevo who did the BIOS release. So once again, the D901C is the fastest notebook on the planet
-
OFF TOPIC:
Any chances to be using the qx9770 in D901C?
PL -
I know it was Clevo that release the BIOS, and fixed the issue.
however credit should be given to Sager for doing the leg work of getting the bios out of Clevo.
unlike others that would like to take credit without doing any work.... -

None, since the QX9770 has a 136W TDP. The D901C 'only' handles processors up to 95W TDP. The Q9650 is a 95W part.
All of the Core 2 Extreme quad cores have over a 95W TDP. -
then,i think soon we will have an updated D901 D
-
So, for those planning to update the cpu themsleves, where can this bios be downloaded from? Already checked Clevo.TW, and didn't see it there....
-
I've also asked XoticPC to upgrade my configuration.

Also the QX9770 is 400MHz FSB which is the main reason it isn't available in the D901C though of course you're right on the TDP front as well
-
One CANNOT use the QX9770 simply because it has a 1600MHz which the the D901C does not support. As for thermal issues, not true.
Many vendors of Clevo in Europe offer the QX9650 3.0GHz Extreme with the D901C and it works flawlessly, but not anyone that I know in the US or Canada. Note that the QX9650 runs on 1333MHz FSB.
I have my D901C actually overclocked to 3.2GHz running a QX9650 CPU (borrowed from my Desktop machine) by changing via software within Windows the multiplier as the chip is multiplier unlocked. Even at 3.2GHz it is fully stable and have no thermal issues.
I have managed to actually push it to 3.4GHz and even 3.6GHz but never got the system to be stable enough or complete any thorough benches without quickly getting a system freeze or blue screen. I dont think its temperature related as I was monitored it closely and it was within OK parameters, as much as I think it may be a BIOS related issue or lack of increasing voltage (which on this laptop I cannot do... at least not via the BIOS).
So, you CAN run 130W Extreme Processors on the D901C no matter if its "officially" supported or not and even stretch them a bit. The matter of trying to overclock the system to 1600MHz FSB is another story and that very honestly I don't know how it could be achieved with the limitations of the laptop's aging chipset! -
was just wondering.. if i were to buy this proc myselff, can i just fix it in? or what do i have to do.. is there any idiot-proof step-by-step instructions to do this?

Which processor? With the Q9650, the general answer is, basically, yes, although you should chat a little with someone who's done it before you take off on your own if you've never done it before. You may also need to change the CPU heatsink since your current CPU is a dual core E8400, not a quad core. In addition, you'd have to flash the new BIOS that Sager's released (or will release shortly) to accomodate the Q9650. Your best bet would be to talk to the XoticPC folks (since they're your reseller, and thus your first line of warranty in case anything goes wrong), and see what they have to say and what sort of guidance they can give you.
