I've discovered into another thread a reseller that sells a rebranded Clevo D901C, with the option to mount a Quad-Core Extreme processor QX6850: take a look into this page.
Apart from reputation of merchant, my question is: do you know that this type of processor could be supported by this machine (or by well know rebranded machines like Sager NP9261)? TDP of this processor is 130W, and it seems to me too high.
An opinion by Gophn or Chaz would be very appreciated ;) .

I don't think they know what they are doing. Just because the QX6850 is pin compatible doesn't mean that it will work in the long term. The D900C (v5.4) requires a G0 Quad, meaning a TDP of 90W.

Their site is terribly set up, and the are advertising that the D901C is under the "New Santa Rosa Platform!", so they are pretty much clueless, and just want to fish for fools to buy it.

Well.... currently, the QX6850 and the QX6800 are NOT recommended for safe and long-term use in the Clevo D900C/D901C.

Its due to the TDP being too high. The Q6600 and Q6700 [G0 stepping CPUs] are safe due to the 95w... while the QX6800/QX6850 has a TDP of 135w.

Thats a 40w difference... very significant.

DO NOT use them. It may seem to work initially, but long-term use will cause instabilities and damage to your system.

Thanks a lot to all or your opinions. Indeed i supposed that usage of this processor into Clevo D901c system is a forcing.
@Doodles: would be unbelievable if these questions were concerned about other notebooks systems, but, my opionion, are perfectly compliant for these types of systems that, by nature, are designed for extreme performances. If that would be wrong, there aren't many peoples (i'm one of these) that are waiting for new 8800m video card into Sager NP9261 or that will come after this machine.
