Prepare an external monitor in case it can't light up your built-in screen and therefore you may need a vbios flash to make FX3600M a 9800MGT.

Is FX3600M the same card as the 9800MGT ?

    Not exactly.
Both of them are p398 board, but 9800MGT has 96sp while FX3600m only 64.
That will make a little difference on performance.

Here is my FX3600M flashed as a 9800mgt and OCed - notice that Shaders 64 unified.

The 3600M is the pro version of the 8800M GTS, thus the 64 shaders.

You shouldn´t have. I have a 8800m GTS running with a 8800m GTX vBios in my old M571TU and it´s working fine since a year.

Sorry, that´s a long time ago that I bought the card and it currently used in my laptop at work.
It LOOKS like the first link, not the second.
I remember I had a strange flimmering screen with the original vBios, though everything else worked. I then flashed the 8800m GTX vBios on it and the flimmering was gone and I could use it as a 8800m GTX minus the amount of shaders of course.
