Can anybody comment on the screen of the NP 5796 and how "x-glass" compares to "ultra glossy" or "ultra sharp" or whatever other words are used with other computer manufacturers to describe their screens.

Does somebody know how it compares to an xps 1730 screen?

    Thanks

The screen on my 5791 is AMAZING. It's the same screen is also used on the 5796.

"x-glass" "ultra glossy" and "ultra sharp" are all just different ways to say that it's a glossy screen as opposed to matte. They're all the same thing, regardless of what the manufacturers call them.

    get glossy... its better.

but rele ...go to a store, look at both. decide yourself. Its one of those personal preference things. Plus you can make a glossy go matte by adding a protector, u cant do that with matte...

You can go to a store to look at other models with glossy screens just to see the screen. It may take some effort to find a matte screen in a store though.

Paladin44, is there a store anywhere around the NYC area? I want to see these notebooks in person before buying online...

I am sorry we are not making it clear.

We are not saying you can see a Sager in a store, because it is doubtful that you could, we are saying you can look at a glossy screen on any laptop you see in a store to see what they look like, and if you are lucky you might find a store that has a matte screen as well so that you can compare them.
