I'm looking to buy this card for my Sager 5750.
I'm looking around e-bay and I see comments about how the card does not work with new Dell computers. So is this PCMCIA card compatible with my Express Card Slot? Or will it not work on my laptop?
-
PCMCIA != ExpressCard
It won't even fit unfortunately. -
The PCMCIA card is not compatible with the ExpressCard slot. Creative might release an ExpressCard version of their Audigy sound card.
-
Yeah, all the newer laptops are leaving off the PCMCIA slot it seems. Which is a pain, since there are relatively few expresscard solutions on the market right now outside of SATA cards and a tv tuner. That means no wireless-N cards for the time being, or a nice audigy card. It's frustrating for all of us.

Thanks for all the replies.
So they have yet to come out with a good Audio ExpressCard?

Oh and I have another question (that has nothing to do with this but I figured I'll ask here instead of making a new topic about it):
The day I got my laptop I put a password on my account (so that I'd have to enter the password when I started Windows). This password is the same password I use for everything so there's no chance I would forget it.
So later that night I restart my computer and when I put in my password it says the password is incorrect. I keep trying and it still doesn't work.
I knew the password was correct... But it wouldn't work.
I eventually tried to type it in using the numberpad (my password contains both letters and numbers). And it worked.
So the password worked when I used the number pad but didn't when I used the regular number keys.
As soon as I got on I went to disable the password (so this wouldn't happen again). I had to put in my password and it worked (using the normal number keys. And the password was indeed what I had it set to be).
I really don't understand why it wasn't working when I was trying to log back on. But right now I would like to put in a password for windows but I'm afraid this will happen again. Anyone have any idea what I'm talking about? -
Hey, I own this same sound card. Bought it jsu tbefore I bought my ASUS S96J notebook. Now, the PCMICA card is of no use to me because the asus only has expresscard support. I just assumed that expresscard was backward compatible. I really love the card though, the sound quality difference is astounding and the features are excellent, almost the same as the desktop version. If you want 5.1 on your laptop like me, its a must.
Any ideas for what I can do though, concerning how to get a pcmcia to work with my new comp? I cant find any pcmcia usb connectors.
Thanks -
Get yourself an external USB or Firewire soundcard.

Hope this helps,

P.S. I work with professional recording artists and producers... its M-AUDIO all the way for them, Creative is too weak for them. -
Thanks a lot Gophn (once again).
I'll look into it and probably buy one of those! -
glad to help,
if you do get it, I think you should make a review of it for this forum, a lot of people without PCMCIA slot will want to know the aspects (in gaming, music, movies, etc) of this external soundcard -
I would like to recommend another M-Audio product if you are planning to buy one. My friend has one of the next steps up from the M-Audio Transit which i seem to be interested in as well, its not too much more in cost and has more features.

As the reviews show, this also has good ratings for the price.
Just giving you as many good alternative as possible,

Thanks again.
The M-AUDIO Transit should be good enough for me. I'm pretty sure I'll go and by the Transit. And if I do I'll let you know how I find it. -
you can order it through the Reviews that I have given you, I think the AudioReview site links you to Amazon for the Transit being sold for $70, and the audioMIDI site has it for $79.
If you want to pick it up in person, I believe that its sold at Guitar Center as well. -
Oddly enough my Audigy card worked all the way up until the 9750 went back to Sager for a warranty repair. I upgraded to the 7900GTX Video card at the time and when it came back - the card no longer fits, too short - other, longer pcmcia catds to - weird.

i would get a flashlight to check it out, then i would test the eject mechanism to see if its stuck or malfunctioned.
