    I'm looking at
    Sager NP8153 (Clevo P650RS-G)
    vs
    Sager NP9152(Clevo P750DM2-G)

It looks like the dimensions of the laptops aren't THAT much differen't aside from .3" more thickness from the P750. Is the nearly 2lb weight difference due to a heavier cooling system? Would they both be around the same fan noise level with a 1070 and lower wattage CPU? I was assuming since the 750 can accept desktop CPUs that the cooling system was beefier thus the seemingly crazy weight difference.

Getting a desktop CPU is almost always beneficial for the following reasons:
    1. The are much more powerful than their laptop counterparts.
    2. You can easily replace them.
    3. You can also place them in some other desktop or laptop.
    4. Their resale value is much higher.
    5. They have a much larger resale market.

Correct but add to that :
    - They heat more
    - They're not delidded...since Intel wants to grab extra $$$ by using cheap thermal compound in the lid that's not cool.

I was considering the cheapest i5 that was roughly equivalent to the 6700HQ since the tdp were about the same. Just wondering if that's why there was a 2lb weight difference. Fan noise is my biggest concern I could care less about an extra 10c temp if it's within limits.

-they have better cooling to off-set that.
-the 4790k uses better thermal paste than previous i7s, so I would assume the 6700k does as well. At least you have the option to delid with a desktop CPU.

I personally would go with the P750, OP. I love DTR laptops.

    I own a P750DM with i5 6500 which remains under 65°C even under load.

It's mostly down to battery, weight, cost and size considerations and which balance is best for you.
