I had my NP8662 for two days and I already had to send it in for repairs.
For anyone who has experience dealing with sending in a notebook for repairs, how was it dealing with Sager?
-
I did not send mine in for repairs, but I did have to deal with Sager with a warranty issue. Back many years ago I had a np5680 with a cracked screen bezel--a common problem with this model.
I called them up and they asked me to send it in--I told them that I could change the screen bezel myself if they would send it, and they sent it out immediately and I received it in three days. Unfortunately, they did not look closely at the replacement part because while the bezel was fine, it had been improperly extruded and plastic face where the screws mount was too large for the screwheads to hold the bezel on. I sent them an email with a picture and they immediately sent a new set of bezels.
That might sound like I am griping, but it was overall a very positive experience.
I've had warranty/repair issues with Dell (god help us all), HP and Lenovo and Sager was the best of the three to deal with.
My 2 cents -
Cool. Thanks for the info. If I knew how to switch out panels, I would've totally asked for them send me a panel or even buy one on my own!
I already sent it yesterday, they should receive it Friday and hopefully, it'll work out magically in the end.
Do you know where I can find a guide of some sort on how to disassemble the notebook perchance? -
Thank you very much!

Well, does having 2 mobo replacements, cdr cross ship replacement count?
I live in Los Angeles so it's about a 40 min drive to the Sager factory and drop it off and pick it up myself. I've had some major startup issues with my Sager 9750 (see sig for spec) but in dealing with Sager and their techboys, not a problem. They answered all my emails and told me exactly what they did, they were great on the phone abliet some accents which I am not holding against them. I usually deal with one guy there - i hope he's still there, it's been a while since i've had any contact with them...yaaaah...*cross fingers, knock on wood*
Now..I just had my wife's M170 fixed here at home, that's nice as well. -
Thanks for the info. I just heard from Sager saying that my lcd problem wasn't really a problem
However, it's really annoying and I'd really like to have it fixed. The guy on the phone told me he'd send it over to the manufacturer (I thought Sager WAS the manufacturer!) to have the techs look at it. I'm so confused. I sent it in to Sager hoping to have the panel replaced or something but they now they're saying they don't provide that kind of service?!
I need my notebook for a Maya/photoshop class and I can't have two dark smudges messing with the colors and such. The worst part is that the smudges are visible with certain background colors (dark) such as grey or dark green. In addition, they are more visible when the lcd panel starts heating up from heavy use or if the viewing angle is 30-35 degrees when using a light colored background that hides the smudge.
I hope they do something. I don't want to get a notebook back that I used for TWO days then sent back to Sager for 1.5 weeks then get it back with no work done. If that happens, I think I'll either buy a new panel and install it myself or just ask to return the damn thing. $1600 is too much for a notebook I won't be happy with. -

Well, I am about to test Sager's support again. My 9750 turned into a brick on me after I cleaned it out and reapplied the thermal grease on it. Drove down to City of Industry and dropped it off to Sager immediately.
It will take 2-3 days to figure out which part is bricked but it's not looking good, there is no power going into the unit. -

It sounds like you zapped your machine. Did you remove the battery and ground yourself before you opened her up?

What anime's that from soviet?

I grounded myself, had the cord etc but -sh*t- I forgot to remove the battery. *sigh* me bad, that's what I get for doing this at 1:30 in the morning.
