I wasn't exactly sure where to put a post such as this so I figured the clevo/sager forum would be a good place as there are some sharp cookies on here. I've been looking at an additional monitor for use with my np8660, mostly to be used for addition screen for game development (programming with XNA, 3D modeling with blender/Maya, photoshop work, etc.). I've narrowed it down to 2 monitors with a budget under $300. The 24" was my minimum for resolution purposes and screen real estate. Basically I'm wondering, based on specs/opinions which monitor yall think would be a better choice?

Some key differences are aspect ratio, brightness, contrast, etc.
What is more important to me is great contrast in colors/quality over brightness, and i'm not particularly picky with the aspect ratio.

I do plan on gaming with it, watching some movies, ps3 games/bluray etc. I'm kind of edging towards the 16:9 because of the currently cheaper price, as well as the 9800m gt I have that would have an easier time powering games at 1920x1080 rather than 1920x1200.

Do let me know what ya think!

I'll add a poll for simplicity but i appreciate more thorough responses!

They both pretty much have the same specs. Its going to be a personal preference on the resolution. The ASUS MK241H has not only 1920x1200, but a built-in webcam for $40 more. Not sure how much you might need the webcam though.

On the other hand, the ASUS VW246H has a bigger resolution. 1920x1200 looks really decent on a 24". Personally, I would go with the ASUS MK241H for the resolution.

The 246H actually only has 1920x1080, the 241H has 1920x1200 and the webcam. I would go for the 16x10 ratio (241H) due to the better ratio for desktop work (and you don't really want a 16x9 secondary monitor imo) and also it is higher resolution (although the description page says 1920x1080 for both, the 241H actually supports 1920x1200 as shown on the specs page).

I find 16:10 to be more 'natural' to me. I also find that the 16:9 ratio too wide, and often miss things when they happen on the far sides.

If it were me, I'd choose the 16:10.

(Sorry, I can't comment on the monitors specifically, as I've never owned an ASUS monitor)
