Hey all, I figure this might be the best place to ask...considering I'm looking to hear from 9150 users specifically, I also posted this in the 9150 owners lounge.

Anyroad, does anyone here play RIFT? Just curious because I'm seeing TERRIBLE fps on the game...and it's the ONLY game I'm seeing problems. My average framerate is around 40, preset ultra settings, no-AA. It starts dipping below 20 in the major capitals and during rift events...and this just seems absurd! My old laptop (alienware m15x, circa 2010 model) was mustering these framerates at the high-med settings...I figured this sager would have no problem maxing it out, sans fancy things like FSAA.

I've scoured the rift forums for something tangible...but I'm sure most of you know of the trolls/flamers act on MMO forums...not exactly helpful info.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Also, it might help to know that my GPU usage seems exceedingly low at times, 30-35%. Could it maybe be an nvidia driver issue? Specs are in my sig.

MMOs like RIFT are predominantly bottlenecked by the CPU, not GPU. Having the best graphics card in the world won't improve your FPS if your CPU can't keep up.

Your graphic card is enough for the game, I think CPU is the main problem?

How do you have a Sandy Bridge with a NP9150? Sager doesn't sell NP9150 with Sandy Bridge, it's not an option. Not an option with XoticPC either since Sager, again, does not provide that as an option.

As for question, this game is nowhere close to being bottlenecked by your CPU. You obviously have your setup wrong. Your machine should be destroying this game. Rift is a not a difficult game to run. I can run that game easily on my G73JH, never mind the NP9150.

definitely your 7970m has utilization problems like others but seems is worst on this game. no solution at the moment and no need to try different ways installing the driver as many others already tried. just wait driver update if any...

oh i just realized you are using 675m...has nvidia got the same problem here?

Really? You sure about that? 7970M having difficulty with this DX9 outdated, super easy to run game?
    - Just downloaded and I was getting about 40 FPS with EVERYTHING maxed, even higher than the Ultra preset including the supersampling etc. Every bar to the max.

xoticpc sold the first np9150's with the sandy bridge procs, even before ivy bridge was released...I know there are others here on the NBR forums that have SB with their 9150's as well.

As for my settings in RIFT...i think i've discovered that it might be something to do with their recent patch, 1.9..several people reporting issues with performance after the update.

Then just wait it out or lower presets. I don't find ultra to be much better than medium, if at all. 675m should destroy this game
