I have a friend who plays on a 512MB card, some AMD intergrated graphics card pretty horrible. I want to help him make a purchase he loves alienware hes a young kid around 14 and he just wanted to know how is the card? Can it run Skyrim on medium with like 2x aa or is it a weak card?
I know the 680m is out and its a monster but he cant afford it and he wants an Alienware M14x, I suggested Sager to him but he really likes the design of the Alienware. I myself own a Np8170 and I think its the sickest laptop ever...
Also on a side note : whats better the 580M or the 650m?? ( I wont tell him just curious.)

of course 580m is way better. GTX675m i think is a rebrand of the 580m. also are you talking about the 650m DDR3 or DDR5 version? if its 650m DDR5 version, i feel its sufficient for him (i think the m14x has ddr5). i myself wanted to get the asus N56vz with 650m, but the DDR3 in the N56vz made me reconsider and now i have my eyes set on the clevo p150em with 7970

When comparing Nvidia cards the second number in the model is better to see which is better. The first number lets you know which series it is. Within each series you have entry level to top end cards. For example the 5 in 580M tells you its part of the 500 series and the 8 tells you how high in that series it is (top) Compare that to the 650M, the 6 means 600 series while the 5 tells you it more mid range. So when comparing the 580M to 650M the 8 in 580M tells you its better. There will always be exceptions to the rule but thats a good general rule of thumb. Now if the series are further apart like 280M vs 650M then that all falls apart
Question about the 650M video card.
