I like the 5793 very much and I know that it runs smoothly even under intense gaming with a nice temperature (good cooling), however I'm not that crazy about the 17inch frame. So I was happy to see the announcement of the 15' model but now I'm concerned about cooling issues, and as many of you already know the alienware m15x is having just that. Now I'm not saying sager is equal to alienware in design, but that it's fair to assume it will be harder to keep a 15' model cool in comparison to a larger 17' with more room. Hopefully I am wrong !

Yes, it's fair to assume this is the case, especially if AW is deliberately downclocking the GPU after 20 minutes of use (not sure if it's true, just read it in the AW section of these forums).
Any ways, Sager has already implemented an improved chasis for the m57ru to help with cooling the 8800m I see no reason why they would not design the m86tu from the ground up to deal with it. We'll just have to wait and see. Everyone though AW could pull it off and look what's happening. -
i always use cooling pad, so heat shouldn't be an issue to me.
this is the one i am using

I would not recommend the Cooler Master NotePAL.... especially for 17" and/or thick (~1") notebooks.
I own this cooler, it scratches up the front end of the notebook and causes chassis damage. And it is has a horrible design flaw... the depth of the stage is to small for most 17" notebooks... which would cause the notebook to fall backwards.
If you are using it for smaller notebooks that are thin enough to not gets its front end damaged, then its fine. -

it should then be big enough for a 15" and if its the M860TU it would be a nice accesory to match the brush metal look.
-
Gophn, what do u mean thin enough? I don't see problem of it with anyone of my laptops
-
I have a front bezel on my notebook that received a noticeable horizontal scratch along the front where the cooler is bracing it from sliding down the front.
I now consider that front metal brace in coolers a flaw because of the possible chassis damage.
I would strongly recommend a cooler that does not have such a design.
I still fully recommend the Zalman ZM-NC1000 or NC2000 since its the most efficient of the 15 coolers that I have owned and tested. -
The Zalman cooler is better due to the fact that the air flow is equally spread on the notebook's surface, therefore better overall cooling.

guys this design suits sitting on your lap too I have used one for 18months on my old acer
http://www.antec.com/us/productDetails.php?ProdID=75004
It will fit under my M570RU, but so far I dont think it needs it....even after playing games for 4 hours last night, further testing will see though -
Why use alternatives when you can get a Zalman NC-2000?
-
Why use a Zalman when you can stop OCing?
-
Good point.
-
anyone know where they have the NC-2000 in stock?
I looked at egg, zzf, clubIT, and microcenter and no luck, all out of stock. -

Newegg has them in stock.

That`s not so bad, abut 75$ . I`d pay 75 for new fans on my laptop though
-
eleron911, we have the NC-2000 here and it's around 80$
