Thanks to help from Brett at Xotic and help from NBR members I have decided to order the 8130 tomorrow with a 80gb Intel SSD in the main bay and then installing a 360gb 7200 rpm in the optical bay. My question is what interface does the optical bay use? I am wondering if it runs slower than the main drive bay running sata 2.

    Any opinions are welcome! :D

    SATA to SATA.

And yes, it is SATA II.

Your main drive bay should actually be running SATA 3 6Gbps (couldn't tell by the wording if you knew that already though!). Granted, any mechanical drive couldn't even saturate SATA 2, let alone SATA 3, so it's moot as far as that goes for the optical bay :D

Thanks Malibal, I was thinking it was a Sata II interface. I am thinking the Intel 80gb drive is a Sata 2 also...if so I may want to rethink my choice in ssd's.

Well it depends on the model number of the intel SSD you are choosing. Some are SATA II and some are SATA III. The Intel 510 series are the SATA III SSDs.

Also, as malibal said, your wording was a bit confusing. Basically:

    Main HDD Bay: SATA III
    Optical Drive bay: SATA II
