Basically I was interested in upgrading to 16gb of ram, and wanted to know if I have to stay with 1333MHz or if i can change up to 1600mhz? is there a big difference?

Also what would be the the best ram for my Sager NP8150?

2670qm does not support 1600mhz ram but 1600mhz ram can run at 1333mhz with lower latency.

so basically stick to 1333MHz, does the number after 1333MHz affect anything? for instance I was looking at newegg and these are the types, does the 10600 or 10666 matter?

    DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600)
    DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666)

This is one i was looking at for 48 bucks

    G.SKILL 8GB (2 x 4GB) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Laptop Memory Model F3-10666CL9D-8GBSQ

None of the above would make a difference. Cycle timings are far more important than MHz and even they're still barely noticeable unless making 0.3% on some benchmark matters to you. Just buy some brand you've heard of before and look for the bargain.

And btw, upgrading to 16GB won't yield any difference at all unless you run virtual machines or something of the sort. If I were you I'd upgrade the rig in another couple of CPU/GPU series.

Enjoy it :) You should be thankful you didn't buy it sooner when Enduro was semi-broken.

doesnt matter, our machines were never affected by enduro since were not running on the igpu ;) yes u can upgrade the cpu, fastest model would be the 2960xm or the 2860qm. first one goes for like 350-400€, second one for like 200€ on ebay.

OP did mistake (not exactly mistake, read EDIT) upgrading from 8GB 1333 to 16GB 1333. EDIT: as I see he just bought 2 more sticks 2x4GB of 1333Mhz. So technically he chose 1 option which advantage is lesser cost while he didn't know that another option would give better performance.
People, much you wrote here is what you do not know about.
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/har...m-full-speed-help-screenshots-appreciate.html

The only truth here was that you don't need 16GB unless you know why do you need it. Like VMs etc.
Also frequency is more important than latency. And the most important is amount of RAM... BUT only till 8GB for usual user. What is more than 8 is not so important at all unless you have professional programs, photo, video editing, virtual machines, ramdrives, 3D CAD etc.

The performance difference between RAM speed is... hard to tell. for raw performance it may be 1-2.5%. For achieving it may give 5%. But the main gain the faster response of your laptop. If you got used to your current laptop than you would notice the difference in it.

So basically... you'd better buy 8GB of 1600Mhz instead of your 8GB 1333 than buying 16GB of 1333.

Well basically my laptop has 4 spots, 2 are already filled with 2x4GB sticks of 1333Mhz so I was going to purchase another set of 2x4GB 1333Mhz. Making total ram 16GB 1333Mhz

I do alot of Adobe Elements and Lightroom with RAW Images and video streaming/editing

You are fine with 1333MHz not like you have any choice. But really 1333MHz vs 1600MHz makes little difference.

I had 1333MHz and now I have 1600MHz an I benchmark it. Makes no diff. Even less in the real world.

nope, unfortunately thats it for our machines, theyre not gonna get any more cpu upgrades in the future. gpu is another matter tho, but well have to wait and see what the compatibility is like with the upcoming nextgen this summer.

For a lot of rendering work 1600mhz will have an impact. Sandy tended to show improvements up to 1600mhz.
