    Hey everyone,
Today I installed the Crysis Demo and with it came the Microsoft Visual 2005 C++ Redistributable Package (x64)

I already had the 32 bit version of it installed from something else.

After it installed I noticed that the file msdia80.dll had been placed in my root director and not its correct location.

Firstly, does anyone know how to fix this? Has this happened to anyone else?
Secondly, do I even need the seperate package? Now in my Add/Remove Programs I have
Microsoft Visual 2005 C++ Redistributable Package (x64) and
Microsoft Visual 2005 C++ Redistributable Package

    Thanks in advance.

I am not well versed in the C++ packages, so forgive me if my information is not correct. I did a little research on this subject and I think you should only need the most current redistribution package. I am not sure if the packages are updates or complete installations but here is the most current that I have found.

If it is incremental updates to a larger program then you should install all up until the current update. If it is a stand alone package then theoretically you might only need the most current C++ x86 approved for Vista at the above link. If that is the case you could possibly uninstall all previous versions and install the C++ x86.

I hope I have been helpful.

There is the 2005 and 2008 redistributable package (with it's x86, x64, Itanium versions). If you have x86 doesn't mean you don't need x64. Let the game install whatever it wants, then uninstall it if it's not the latest version and install that one by yourself. That's what I do.

See the image below... I have 2 packages installed... the x64 one installed when I installed Crysis Demo I think... Do i need both?

Also the msdia80.dll file for the x64 version one, installed into my root directory, not the correct path Drive:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\VC

So whats the deal w/ that? anyone else with 64bit vista have this thing going on.
