I've had my sager np8170 for a while now, but I've always wondered if I was blowing out dust right. When I open up the back, I blow at the fans/around the CPU and GPU heatsinks. Am I doing this right? Or is there another place that might be collecting dust?

I always take off all the covers on my Lappy, blow into the boards, blow out towards the fans, then blow into the vents, then back out again. Then once more into the boards, around the inside, and out towards the vents. Once I no longer see anything other than the cold air moving, I am done. I try to do this at least once every couple of months, more so in the summer, but I do this on a fairly regular schedule, and my year and a half old laptop is still cool.

When I blow into the vents, I need to have the notebook no longer upside down for the dust to fall out, kind of an awkward angle. But thanks for the help. I always thought blowing into the vents meant blowing the dust back in.

if you use compressed air then theres enough force to blow it out.
