I emailed xoticpc a few days ago and I got directions and files on how to update my firmware and flash my bios but I am having problems. I download the HP USB disk storage thing to make the flash drive boot able. But once I pick the files to make boot able it says "Not valid DOS system files" Now I have looked up online and this is how everyone else does it so Im not sure.

Im pretty sure the root of the problem are the files them self. I was provided 2 files one for firmware update and one for bios flash. Both files came in.7z format so I extracted them (each to their own folder) on my desktop. In the folder I extracted them to the files I see now are

Autoexec (batch file) ECP37x.05 (05 File) and ELASH11 (Application)

Now to me that seems right but when I try to use that folder to make my flashdrive bootable it says what I mentioned above.

Now is there something I am doing wrong or not understanding or something?

Thanks that helped me a lot. I have one last question, I feel like an idiot for asking but if I dont ask I will never know. So now that my BIOS is flashed where do I go to so I can see the things that where added? Like I know one thing was I could disable that light under the screen without disabling the keyboard lights.

What else did this BIOS flash add and where can I go to change things?

Yeah Im saying I was able to flash it. But now that its flashed where do I go to change things and find out what the flash actually added.

If you go into your BIOS setup, it should show a different version number than what you had before. BIOS updates are largely transparent to the OS and just provide hotfixes to certain things, or provide better support for miscellaneous things.

I heard I had to update my firmware and update my BIOS so I can turn off the light that is under my screen and such. Dont BIOS flash also usually come with like more fan control options and stuff like that?

Which model laptop do you have (so I know which light you're referring to)? What the update offers is pretty relative to the version being flashed.

You're referring to the volume LEDs, then? To my knowledge, Clevo has not produced a BIOS update to disable those. The BIOS update in speculation that was circulating was to disable the trackpad while keeping the keyboard backlight on when these were first released.
