what on earth happened to GTX570M? why not have that as an option between gtx560m and 6990m. I think a lot of people would have got the 570 instead of the 560. why is it only reserved for msi laptops? they are pretty decent running cards. any comments ?

Clevo is the direct foundry of their own cards. So they choose what they get to make. They made the business decision that the 560 / 580 split was better as the price/performance ratio of the 470/570m's compared to their bretheren wasn't there to offer for sale and be able to sell a lot of them.

Yeah the 570M really has no reason to be in the Sager/Clevo line up.

And then they'd have to raise the base price by three hundred....

The 570M may or may not come into the Sager line. We will see.

Well... they need a mid level card to start with. Nothing in life is free, especially vid card upgrades :D And things move so quickly, by mid next year the nvidia 6xx series will probably already be out. Does not make sense to replace something with the same gen hardware.

oh I was talking about the future, maybe like gtx670M , but who knows mainstream graphics maybe good, but I always like one step ahead, just like from the old days. 8800gtx was much better than 8600gt , :) I had the gtx460m it was fine, but not great, but the 470m was nothing special tho :)

Why would you flash a 570m bios into a 580m card? I'm confused; Did I miss something?

msi have gtx570m 3gb version one and its also gf114, im trying to figure out what code in bios limits the memory amount to fullfill my 580m 4gb

the thing is msi's current heatsink(hd5870m/gtx460m/560m/570m) cant hold 580m...........so they are redesigning a new one for 580m, but a rd said their 580m will still be little downclocked(maybe 600mhz core)
clevo's p15/7/80hm heatsink is strone enough to hold 580m/6990m, dont know why they skip 570m

You are asking the wrong company, ask nVidia why they didn't offer it to Clevo for the range. They probably had a deal with some other manufacturer ie MSI to give them the rights to the card. Just like how Clevo got the 485m card as an exclusive launch. These guys all work deals with each other to make sure there is not too much overlapping and everyone can have an 'exclusive' model.
