    hello guys

I'm buying M860TU soon and I've choosen AVADirect because they are the only reseller that provide Intel Core 2 X9100 CPU.

However I have few questions, for those who bought from AVADirect , do they have SIM card slot in their model ? I've looked in the forum and I never found anyone talking about having it on his notebook or testing the connectivity using 3.5G HSDPA

    Few more questions:
    - Is the model upgradeable to more than 4GB ?
    - Do you consider 64bit better for 4GB because I'm not sure whether to buy vista 32 or 64 yet

    Regards

One more question, is it worth it to add $90 for 9800GT instead of 9800GTS

The small perforamnce gain does not justify the $90 more. You do get a few more fps but doesn't worth it for the price.

For the SIM card, I didn't check but AVA is suppose to use the M860TU barebone so it should have the SIM card although I didn't heard of any report about that, maybe because data plans are so expensive.

For the RAM, I really don't know if you can upgrade to more than 4GB but there's only 2 slots of RAM. The question is: is there some 4GB DDR3 sticks out there for laptop?

The 4GB Ram is more future-proof, I just want ahead and took it. Installed Vista x64 Ultimate. Running great, no driver problems.

    Hello

thanks for your response guys, if it's just few fps more then I guess saving those $90 for something else would be more wise.

One more question, I found in AVA customize page that X9100 is powered at 44.0W and the sticky topic suggests that 44.0W is not supported by M860TU
any idea if this is gonna be stable system. and if yes, how much battery life is expected with this cpu

Eurocom was able to do so: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-notebook-roundup,2023-8.html so I believe its possible. The only problem, I believe, is that Clevo won't cover the laptop if there's any problem but I would expect the reseller to assume this. My CPU is a 25W, I get 2 hours max running in power saver...This CPU uses twice the power...so it could result in a 1 hour battery life (but maybe I'm wrong, this is just some logicial assumption). Anyway, you wouldn't want that in a 15'' because of the price. If you wanted that kind of power, get a 17''.

It won't result in an hour of battery life since the CPU isn't the only thing using battery power in the laptop.

Except 1.5 hours of battery, tops.
