I purchased a Sager Notebook last week decided to go with them due to Alienwares poor quality"owner of an area 51m 7700 nothing but problems", Dell and gateway notebooks in the past, and got poor quality of components and service from all three companies.

I got my self the NP5792 with the 8700m GT 512mb card. I have not been able to find any reviews or any thing with my setup, how it games, battery life, handles applications ect.
    Full Specs
    45nm Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor 2.4ghz
17" WSXGA+ LCD with Matte Finish Surface 1680X1050
Nvidia GeForce 8700M GT Graphics with 512MB DDR3 Video Memory
    XP Pro
    2GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz
    200GB 7200rpm SATA 300 Hard Drive
    8X DVD±R/RW/4X +DL Super-Multi Drive
    Intel Networking Card
    Interal BlueTooth

What I am wondering is how does this thing game? I will be using to use Maya 2008 Unlimited, ZBrush 3, Photoshop CS3, 3DSMAX, and Nuke. Games COD4, BF 2142, Crysis, Oblivion, Lord of the Rings Online, Warhammer Online, Republic Commando, Star Wars BF 2, Halo 1 & 2, and UT3. I wanted something mobile, that could run my games and be able to run my 3D software packages. I looked around, asked and heard Sager was a good brand to get. If any one has a similar notebook that does not have the 8800m GTX and has the same video card as I do could you please shed some light on this.
I went on budget for this thing due to the desktop I built ealier this year so kept my spending limit under 2k.

Well got my NP5792 in installed my games, 3d software and could not ask for a nicer machine. Plays Crysis great, maybe not as good as my desktop, but still very playable and so far it has ate threw every other game I have thrown at it. Great Buy

    glad to hear it. :)

Since gaming notebooks is still a new thing....

Most gaming notebook owners have little to no idea how to take care of their notebooks, and believe that they will take care of themselves.

You need to be aware that with power comes the responsibility to take care of it... by:
    - always making sure to use it on a clean flat, cool surface (preferably a good notebook cooler like Zalman ZM-NC2000 or NC1000)
    - always monitor the temps (GPU and CPU) to watch for temp spikes that will indicate overheating due to clogged vents.
    - every two months, you need to manually clean out the notebook's vents and fans with a flashlight, Q-tips, and compressed air (cans/compressor).. it should take about 20-30 minutes.
    - and maybe you might need to re-apply thermal grease (like Arctic Silver) to the CPU and GPU if needed
    - remember to use the Fan Toggle (Fn+1, Fn+2, Fn+3) to switch the fans to Max, Medium, or Auto speeds during your usage and gaming.

If you take care of your notebook with these easy things, than it will easily last.
