Questions about NP8130/P151 (by Maribal)

I'm looking at this thing right now and it looks too good to be true. i7 2670QM + GTX 560M in such a small and elegant package...

1. How are temps and fan behavior? One of the main reasons I'm ditching my Dell is because the annoying fan (turns on during web browsing and quiet scenes in movies)

2. Is there any difference between this model and the NP8150/P150 besides graphic card options?

3. Is there any place I can see a picture of the Japanese keyboard option?

4. I read somewhere that it's possible to get discounts and/or free shipping if you're a member of this forum, is that still possible?

5. Is the 95% gamut AUO screen any better than the one Dell uses in the L502X? Can't seem to find a comparison

1.Your fan will turn on during web browsing. In fact, it will probably cycle on and off fairly often. I have a i7 2760 and a 6990M, and my fan turns on for ~30 seconds, then switches off for about 10-15, and then turns back on. Fairly annoying to be honest. I just wish it would either stay on or stay off, but there's not way to control that.

2. The NP8150 comes with a larger power brick (it's literally a brick) and has a rubberized finish, which is fine (other than attracting lots of dust and being somewhat hard clean). I'd rather have the non-rubberized finish, only because of the dust issue.

Edit: just timed the fan, 15 seconds off, then 1min 20sec on, then 5sec off, then on for 1min 20sec, then off for 10... Bleh. And this is with just HWMonitor, Notepad, 1 window of windows explorer, and my computer information window open. Supposedly I have IC Diamond 7.

 

Oh that sucks to hear about the fan, it's my biggest gripe with the Dell too... Have you tried Speedfan or turning on power saver mode? When I use power saver it throttles the CPU to 900MHz, although the cooling is so bad the fan still comes on occasionally...
