Does the Sager NP8172 (Clevo P670RP6) allow you to disable the dedicated graphics if you don't need them?

Is it fully supported by windows 7? Xotic PC doesn't offer windows 7 and the Sager website has no options for windows 7 drivers so maybe the windows 10 drivers happen to work fine with windows 7. Hidevolution does offer windows 7 though: http://www.hidevolution.com/evoc-p670rp6-custom-built-gaming-laptop-w-nvidia-gtx-1060-w-g-sync.html

    Xotic: http://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np8172-clevo-p670rp6.html?startcustomization=1

Is this model like the MSI GT Dominator line? Or is it more like the MSI apache pro series?

You can try installing W7 on it, but you'll spend more time troubleshooting than using it for anything. W7 doesn't work right on this model, if you can even install it.

It's more like the version of the GT72VR with the 1060 than the GE, since it can support up to 64GB RAM while the GE can only support 32.

Is hidevolution likely ignoring the windows 7 issues then? Is windows 7 unusable on this model or just very difficult to get working? Can you give examples of what is broken?

Can you disable the dedicated graphics on the sager like you can on the GT72S?

Size wise is the sager more like the dominator (very thick) or the apache thickness?

I'd guess custom BIOS/drivers, I'm not aware of any official support from Clevo for Windows 7 on new models. I'm not saying you can't put it on there, but it's too big a pain for most manufacturers to support.

    It's between the two in size closer to the GE72 in thickness than the GT72 (GE72 1.14" P670 1.18" GT72 1.89") and about the middle in weight (GE72 5.95lb Sager 7.06lb GT72 8.40lb)

It should have a mux switch in the BIOS that will switch between hybrid mode (Optimus) and discrete mode (GTX card only)

It says that it's using Prema bios: http://www.hidevolution.com/evoc-p670rp6-custom-built-gaming-laptop-w-nvidia-gtx-1060-w-g-sync.html
I'd assume they are using the windows 10 drivers since on a few other laptops I've read about recently the manufactures said the windows 10 drivers worked fine with windows 7.

Do you have a picture of what the inside of that sager notebook looks like? I'm wondering how many heatpipes it has and if it has 2 fans.

No pic but I think they look like earlier P670 versions, with 2 fans for the GPU and one for the CPU.

Do you know if the gpu is upgradeable like some of the msi and Asus ones were?
Does xotic use the prema BIOS or the stock bios?

Pretty sure gpu isnt upgradeable. I think its soldered on. Xotic doesn't use prema, but they told me it can be installed by us. Im just not too sure how.

Do sager laptops tend to have failing gpu overtime more so than MSI? I was just reading through posts where people tried to change the gpu and a lot of times it was because the gpu stopped working.

Not really... same as any other laptop, basically. It's nice to be able to change the GPU if it fails, though.

I rarely see a GPU fail on a system that was taken care of. Modular GPUs are convenient, but can be just as - if not more so - expensive to replace than a motherboard with surface mounted graphics.

They still can, but agreed, even just regularly cleaning out heatsinks will reduce the failure rate greatly.

Indeed, Dust = Heat, Heat=Death for GPU.. The lower the temps you keep it at the longer it will last!
