1. Would the i7-620M be better than the i7-720M if I only game (Bad Company 2, TF2, SC2 beta) and perform simple tasks such as web browsing, Hulu, Youtube, etc.
2. Is the sound quality of the NP8690 as crappy as some people claim, or is it just like any other laptop with tinny speakers and no bass? I've also heard that the sound for the audio-in can be weak and want to know whether this is a widespread issue.
3. How decent is the messenger bag that comes with the NP8690?

1. yes, if you only game 2 core is better for almost all games.
2. For me personally, the speaker is fine for a laptop, yes, it's the no bass.
3. The quality is quite good, though looks might not be very appealing, though it's suitable for work kind of messenger bag. -
any other laptop i've owned or encountered has had better speakers, they're seriously lacking bass. they can play loud thankfully
the bag is alright, you can fit the laptop, power brick, mouse, and a bunch of misc things in the pockets. it holds anything i've ever needed to have gaming on the go.
but recently the shoulder pad on the strap has torn, and the velcro patch on the inside that secures the laptop within the pocket is starting to come apart from the fabric. -
1) I'd take the QM if I was concerned mainly with gaming. The reason is that more and more games are starting to make use of four cores, and in my opinion, the first games that start giving mobile i7 CPUs trouble are most probably going to be quad-core optimized. Currently one of the most CPU-intensive games out there is GTA4, and it runs far better on quad cores than dual cores.
The difference in dual-core or single-core performance between the two CPUs isn't huge, so you're not sacrificing much if you go quad core.
2) The speakers aren't THAT bad... they're just not a selling point. Occasionally you get tinny sound and sometimes you miss having a nice bass, but you could always just buy external speaks if you're at your desk.
3) I don't use the bag heavily, mostly only when I fly, but it's carried my laptop, power adapter, mouse, headphones, batteries, a deck of cards, a couple books, a stack of papers, and a few other sundries just fine. I personally wouldn't have use for anything more than what it is. -
Thanks for the replies, makes my decision easier

The sound is much better if you use SRS Audio Sandbox and any sensible person would opt for a Quad Core over a Dual Core for gaming, especially considering how the mobile i7's Turbo Boost function works and the increased use of Multiple Cores in all areas of gaming and applications.
Regarding the bag, forget about the one that comes with it, go for a Pakuma Akara rucksack instead. -
Bless you

I don't know if this is a general question or not about sager notebooks
but does their touchpad always wear out like 6 months later? I currently own a np5793
is it materials or is it like that for every notebooks? -
Not sure because I hardly ever use the touchpad, my previous notebook had it's touchpad covered in dust. The one on 8690 is very smooth though, like glass, not sure if it's the same material with 5793.
