I have a few questions about the Sager NP9260 (D901C).
1) First, my laptop will stay plugged in at home most of the time, and a desktop wouldn’t work for me due to other circumstances. But I am a student (high school), and so on the rare occasions when I have to give a power point presentation I would like to use my laptop. Now since my classes are pretty small (max around 20 people per class) I am wondering how disruptive would the fan noise be. And if I just ran a PowerPoint and nothing else, would the fans come on at all?
2) Heat is a big issue for me, as my last laptop a dell, constantly overheated. Now I hear this laptop runs rather cool which sounds great but I was wondering if I could run it on my bed when I watch anime or a movie on it?
3) Now I am a big gamer who sometimes, mainly on Friday nights can play for around 8 hours in a row. Now how hot would the laptop get after all that? During this time it would be elevated off the ground so the vents would have the least blockage and it would be plugged in. So for this would it be necessary for me to get the laptop cooler to prevent it from overheating?
4) Now in a few months I am probably going to replace my old semi-broken 4th generation Ipod with a archos 605wifi. Which has the option of buying a dock for about 100$. This would allow me to record TV shows and play it on my computer. Do you think this would be a better deal than the internal TV tuner.
5) As my budget is only $3700 I’m thinking of going raid 0 80 gigabyte 7200 rpm hard drives and a 160 gigabyte 5400 rpm hard drive. Now I’m wondering would it be better to go raid 5 with the 80 gigabyte 7200 rpm (as the 80 gigabyte drive is cheaper)? Would I lose gaming performance or anything by changing from raid 0 to raid 5?
6) My last question probably requires a psychic to answer it. Where are the 8700M in Sli? Didn’t sager say early August, and it’s been almost 20 days since the 5790 got them. And I check the Sager, and Xoticpc site everyday for news, and I would check Clevo’s website by I don’t read Taiwanese, but there hasn’t been any news. Are the MIA?

I bought a Raptor-60 from Targa Computer, with WUXGA screen, E6700 CPU, 2 gb 800 mhz ram, SLI video at 7950 GTX, (3) x 160gb Seagate SATA II hard drives, 8x dvd +/-rw, abg wireless, bluetooth and Window XP home installed PLus a second copy of XP Home for my Office, with 2nd delivery all for a total of $ 3,700. I don't use RAID, I like to keep things simple. If I have a hard drive issue, I can now do a quick copy thru USB to a new hard drive and then swap. With RAID, who knows. My Laptop was ordered in June, and pricing should improve some...
They [Targa Computer] don't list XP Home or the faster SATA II drives on their website, but they do provide it. Shipped two days after the phone call order.
For presentation, you can leave fans auto, Laptop will be very quiet. My Dell XPS had a 3.2 P4e Extreme. It got really hot! These Laptops runs run unbelievably cool and FAST!
With a Laptop Cooler in place, even the keyboard will be cool except for your body heat.
So far the 8700M is slower than the 7950 GTX, and Sli is not supported in Vista 32 bit. The new graphics res will need console support to drive sales to drive programming. 9 has been around a long time, and is well supported. 10 may be a few years off.
